I'd be doing a 2nd or even a 3rd BETA too I think. Piece of mind. After waiting so long, so many drugs etc, what's one more jab?

I start back on the pill on Monday.
Can anyone shed light on the Estrogeon Priming Protocol. I'm completely confused with how my clinic is doing it. From what i've read, its suppose to be no pill, and they use estrogeon patches or injections on the cycle before FSH.
My clinic has me on the pill and then I start Progynova once AF has come.

Just to update you all, my BFP sadly ended in a miscarriage at 6 weeks (blighted ovum). Back to square one..

@Babyplz, sorry I can't enlighten you about the oestrogen PP. I think Blonde talks a bit about it at the beginning of this thread, and I think there's a whole thread about it on BH, which you might have found by now. How are you going, by the way? Has AF come?

@Golden Egg Oh shiz Luv, I'm so sorry Bloody blighted ovum's!! That's just bad luck Luv, nothing you could of done about that. Am glad to see you're going to have another try When are you planning to Cycle again??

@Babyplz I've done the AACEP (agonist/antagonist conversion protocol with estrogen priming) and the pill is part of it. They use it to help down regulate you Luv. I've copied and pasted my protocol for you so you can get a general idea. Your FS may do things similarly, or a version of the protocol depending

My FS also gave me a copy of this article http://www.fertstert.org/issue/S0015-0282(08)X0189-X to read about the protocol and I know Geoffrey Sher from the Sher Institute for Reproductive Medicine, Las Vegas talks about it on his website too. If you go to the link above and scroll down to the IVF, it's the second article listed. If the link doesn't work, just Google...Fertility and sterility volume 89 no 2, February 2008. Any issues and I'll photocopy the article and post it to you if you want, just let me know.

It's a protocol designed for women who are either..a)older, b) poor responders or c) both who had repeated IVF failures due to poor embryo quality. This is how my Cycle went:

Day 1..Call FN to confirm dates for treatment
Day 4: Commence active pill and take continuously for 16 days
Day 11: Commence Lucrin injection- 1 unit per day, Commence Prednisone- 2 per day in the morning and keep taking everyday
Day 19: Cease active pill..last one today and expect AF 3-4 days later (could be up to a week for some women) If having an Endo scratch, get it done on Day 21/22. Still continue with Lucrin and Prednisone.

Wait for AF and begin Stimulation Cycle:

Day 1: Call FN and make appointments for Day 2/8/11 (BT's and scan's). continue Lucrin and Prednisone
Day 2: Scan/BT's..Start Progynova (if doing estrogen priming), FSH injections (alternating one day with Gonal-F/Puregon, the next Menopur at whatever amount your FS wants you to take), start using Nitrodur patch (to widen blood vessels for better blood flow to ovaries, uterus etc), Commence 3mg injections of Saizen (if using) from today until day of Trigger
Day 3: Commence Clexane 40mg's 1xinjection per day, continue Progynova, FSH, Nitrodur Patch, Lucrin and Prednisone
Day 4: Cease Lucrin (last injection today) and continue on with the rest
Day 5: Continue on with the rest as per Day 3 (except Lucrin)
Day 6: Commence Cetrtotide or Orgalutran (I always used Cetrotide) today at 9pm..1/2 injection today only and all the rest as above
Day 7: Continue Cetrotide injection..1/2 an injection at 9pm and all the rest as above
Day8: Continue Cetrotide..1 full injection today at 9pm and from now on until Trigger. Continue with all the rest as above and commence Luveris injections daily as directed by your FS (I never used the Luveris as my LH levels were ok, so it may be dependant on your LH levels if you use it or not)
Day 9: Continue everything as per Day 8

Day10/11: Continue everything as above until Trigger, but cease Clexane 2 days prior to EPU.

My usual Trigger days were Day10/11 but it's different for everyone.

Anyhoo, just wanted to add further that I also had an endo scratch/Lipoidal flush on day 21 of Cycle 4 and just the endo scratch on Cycle 5 prior to starting my stimm's. Cycle 4 I also added Saizen (growth hormone) to the protocol but didn't bother on Cycle 5 as I didn't feel it helped with egg quality for me.

I also didn't list my exact dosages as your FS will have his/her own idea about that for you. My FS also had DP and I on a lot of natural supplements to help try to maximise egg/sperm quality that we took prior to Cycling and while we were Cycling (though taking them minimally for 3 months is best to get the maximum benefits). Can list them if you're interested.

The other stuff (Prednisone, Baby Aspirin, Nitrodur Patch, Clexane etc) are part of a basic immune protocol which my FS incorporates into the Cycle as he believes in treating empirically in case of any undiagnosed issues.

Yes, bloody bad luck! I thought I might be able to start a cycle as soon as my levels were back to baseline but when I had a blood test last week my HCG was still quite high so my FS wants me to wait until my next AF. We'll try naturally in the meantime. You never know. Next IVF, I'll get any blastocysts genetically tested if I can, and I'm planning on doing back to back cycles while waiting for the testing to be done. I just don't have time to waste. Argh.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of the information!!
I read the article which gave me peace of mind. It's also great to read some of the medications you have mentioned, I have heard my nurse mention I'd be on.

I'm due again for AF this Thursday and have my medication pick up booked in a couple of weeks. Will be good to see if my cycle plan is similar to yours. I have always been on 450iui FSH but I know this specialist will start me on a lower dosage due to the estrogen priming and continue to lower it as the cycle progresses. Haven't tried it like this before and I know previous high dosage cycles haven't been successful so maybe this is for me!!

    Thank you again for information.

Well, I've got my protocol info and started the pill and clexane a few days ago.

The EPP I'm on is very busy!! I was given a calendar to follow and tick off as I go. Some days I'll be having 4 injections and 4-5 tablets!

Medication includes: OCP, Folic Acid, Clexane, Gonal F, Lucrin, Cetroitide, Prednisone, Pregnyl, Provera, Progynova, Pessaries and Crinone.

The count down is well and truly on now.

    Hi BNEmums,
So sorry to hear about your loss. My partner and I are in a pretty similar situation. Also a same-sex couple seeing WDA and thinking about alternative options (although not quite there yet) as I have DOR and my partner has endometriosis. Did you end up doing another cycle? I'd be very interested to hear what you discovered re overseas options. I'm new to this site so just trying to figure our how it all works!

    Hi ladies,

Although I don't have a lot to share I just wanted to touch base. How are you all going?

AFM, I take my last OCP on Saturday. I've started the Lucrin with no side effects so far (thank goodness!). The Synarel gave me hot flushes and do silly things like wear different shoes and forget to put the slow cooker on 'on' etc. It's only early days so far so who knows

Hope you are all doing well.

    Talk soon
