Im on the bandwagon of the truth is normally best but it seems you cant win this time round.

If you told her and she got angry, would DH support you or be on "her side"?

If he would support you Id consider telling her

If he would support her...I wouldn't tell that plate full of crazy anything. Ever.
Haha! I totally thought this to myself!! 'Make your DH drop something there!'

This thread is a crack up. I saved it this morning to read later thinking it was going to be something juicy, another 'shoes in the house' thread perhaps. Pffft!! Pretend it didn't happen and if she says something say you've never noticed it before. Surely somebody's shoes/heels could do that? I actually noticed a mark in the tile in the first photo, but not where you say it is. Up in the top left by the bottom of the cupboard. What's that?

And I'm sorry, but those tiles are not rare!!!

Default Would you confess? I broke something!!!!

Trash the house, take some expensive stuff (to make it plausible) and tell her someone broke in?

At least that way you can sell the crap 'the deadbeat thief' stole to pay for repairing the tiles lol

Usually I'm all for complete honesty, but in this case I'm not even convinced that you did damage the tile. It was probably like that already and you only noticed because you dropped the jar.
I wouldn't say anything, and if she notices and asks you I'd just say you'd noticed that before and assumed it was a fault in the tile.

    Good luck!!

Don't touch it and don't mention it!!!
If you try to hide it she will figure out you did it and hid it from her.
So just leave it and deny everything!

Could you get something to fill it in? If that doesnt work I would let your MIL know and offer to replace the tile.

OP, I have a feeling your MIL is going to check the tiles as soon as she gets home, she seems completely obsessed by them. Is she mentally ill? I saw the pics and honestly it's a bit weird the way she is worrying about such plain ordinary tiles. Like she's not right in the head.

You know, the more I think about it, the more I wonder how a jar could create such a perfectly round hole.....

    Must have been there already.
