Hi everyone! Well it's another boy! Thomas Christopher born 15 April, 3.03 kg. He decided to come a week early. Everyone predicted a girl so a boy was a real surprise! We've not long come out of hospital as he ended up in special care for jaundice. I'm having the same breastfeeding battles as many on here. I'm following a punishing feeding, pumping, hand expressing schedule, I had to start supplementing with formula on Drs orders to flush out bulliruben. Why do all of the books like 'save our sleep' say "you'll have plenty of milk once it comes in" certainly not the case for me or most of my friends. If I don't supplement he just feeds for an hour falls asleep for 10mins and wakes again hungry.it goes on like that all day and night. So formula has been my saviour to get 1-2 hrs sleep here and there, but really worried my supply will never increase. I'm on motillium and fenugreek there is a small improvement but certainly not enough to satisfy little Tom. All very worth it though he is just lovely! Congratulations @HavingitAll Thomas is a great name!

Gosh @Nezz79 - they tell you that with twins! As-if its gonna work. Wow 1 month already!!! Time certainly flies.

Yeah @KitiK we could not wait to leave the hospital! Sad. Should be where they look after you. i do think the medical care was top notch though.

In the hospital they would make me wake baby every 3 hrs to feed. Sometimes it took like an hr of doing all sorts to get him feeding. Now at home i feed him when he wants feeding. I don't know if that helps you at all. Sometimes he sleeps 1 hr othertimes up to 5hrs. He may feed on only 1 breast or both up to two times. It's my first time doing all this and it all seems quite crazy but our pediatrician says all babies are different and their needs change all the time.

    HIA
That's crazy. They told me same thing but i didn't listen. Was told never to wake a sleeping baby.

Nurse said keep doing what I'm doing and try to express about 40 mins after a feed. But as of yesterday I seem to have enough. Only suplimented with one half bottle yesterday. So looks like after three weeks we are getting things going. Think he's starting to "wake up" a bit more as he doesn't fall asleep as quickly on the boob as before...

Found as well that drinking 8 to 16 oz of water about 1 hour before likely feed time helped a lot as well.

So question- anyone else finding they have extremely dry skin?

Congrats georgiene hope he is doin well and your boobs pick up a bit☺️
Me after meds and herbs I have lost the battle and now am a disappointed bottle feeder😔. It's been a real tough road but my boobs just didn't want to do it. Makes u feel terrible but Levi is a smiling happy little dude so have to be happy with that. He is 6 weeks tomorrow it's funny how a day split into 3 hour increments can go so fast yet so slow😘. Hope u all doin well.

Don't be hard on yourself @sarahf. I'm mixed feeding, mainly bottles of formula & express. I was hugely disappointed but you can only do what your body & baby allows. But I totally understand you! 😙

Sorry to hear it didn't work out sarahf 😪

I think you did great to get bub the weeks of milk that you did. I know how hard it is.

Unfortunately I don't think I'm too far behind you. It's just so hard on so many levels. The nipple thrush still hasn't gone away. It's been almost two weeks of excruciating pain every pump and feed. On top of that my supply started dropping on Friday. There's nothing more I want then to feed him from my breast but I really don't feel strong enough to keep coping with the pain. First IVF then the preg was so hard now this. Just need a mental break.

Back to the GP tomorrow to ask for different drugs. His needles are this Friday and I'm determined to get to there then will reassess.
