@Skyler, I'd like to keep trying till the end of the year when I turn 45, though the cost is getting too much for us. we're trying naturally (on tww now), then the frostie in march, naturally and will see what RPA says (cheaper option) in may. on the phone they said I might only have 1-2 fresh cycles there. I fear they might be of little use and we might as well just try naturally for a miracle. but will see how we go then. I'm hoping the frostie is our bub as it was from the first and best cycle. am trying to think about just being a good aunty as it might be the only option. still not sure about DE.

7wk4day scan today. To say I'm feeling nervous is a massive understatement. Just hoping there's a little heartbeat for me to see. DH is away for the week with work, so just praying for good news.

Hi Ladies. I have been reading your posts for a while now and wanting to join in but not having the courage to do so until now.
Short version of my story, I have just turned 44 in January and have done 5 rounds of ivf/icsi since Feb 2014.
Rounds 1 and 2 were Day 3 transfers, 3, 4 and 5 were Day 5 transfers all BFN!
Have only managed to get one Day 5 frozen during that time.
The first cycle was the hardest because you just never expect to fail and believe with all the science involved it will just work.
I have appt with my FS here in Perth tomorrow, so will see what she has planned.
All the best, hoping to see BFP's for everyone!

good luck @JMT. I hope your FS has a good plan for you. feb 2014 is around when we started, though it took a few months for us to get the tests done & decide to actually start with crazy work travel for most of the year. good news about your frostie

Thanks ladies for all your insightful responses to my question. You have all given me some really helpful advice and some different ways of thinking about it. Blonde and Emski, that makes more sense that 6 cycles is what it might take over 40. My Doctor must have been talking about the stats for all ages.

Welcome JMT and I'm sure your appointment will shed some light for you.

Petal, hoping your scan went fabulously well for you today.

Winsor, good to hear from you.

Leyshoja, you must be excited for your upcoming transfer!

AFM, I'm not going to be ready for transferring this embie before we leave for holidays on Saturday, hormones are not rising quickly enough which is supposed to be normal in the cycle immediately following a stim. So, the bright side is, I can have a lovely relaxing holiday with a few glasses of wine. I did a bit of retail therapy after my blood test this morning and bought a lovely skirt that definitely would not suit a prego belly. I'm a firm believer in the benefits of retail therapy!

    Hi everyone
It's the million dollar question isn't it @Skyler
I know when my cycles failed the pain was so raw for ages , I had no control over my emotion and just wanted to cycle again straight away , but then that pain eases and life resumes some normality and then you think, should I put myself through that again when I could just end up in same situation?
I had coffee with a friend the other day, I have avoided her for ages as she is one of those people who falls pregnant quite easily , it's like "we want to have a baby , oh look I'm pregnant " and then " we'd really like a boy next , oh look I'm pregnant! It's a boy ". So I guess I avoid her as a means of self preservation ( and I'm bitter barren bad friend)
Anyway she was telling me how hard it is with work , kids etc no time for herself ( boo hoo) and I was telling her about our trip to Europe last year and our next trip to hawaii and how im going to finish my masters and I'm doing heaps of yoga and was going to spend the morning shopping blah blah and then I thought how ironic that we were both probally sitting there envious of each others lives !!!
    Is the grass greener?
