Default need reccomendation for good obgyn/midwife in sydney area

    hello!
i'm new to this forum, this pregnancy, and this country. i'm married to an aussie, just found out i'm about 5 weeks along--have no doctors here.

i'm over 40, and need someone good with older mums-to-be, good with thyroid stuff, someone who takes a conservative approach. (progesterone, bringing tsh down to 1 or so, maybe heparin, etc) i had a m/c a few years ago in the USA, had some not so great medical advice then--and have since learned about good protocols from doctors/midwives back home--i'm hopeful, but need a good dr/midwife here to work with me!

any suggestions? cheers and thank you!

If you're in Avalon the nearest public hospital is Mona Vale. I had bub there and can only speak very highly of the care I received from the midwives. If you've had complications you would be assigned to the drs clinic.
If you go private you will need to pay for an obgyn. This would cost around $7k (based on my friend's experiences). You could choose a dr who also delivers at mona vale (I believe this is dr jollows). Or you deliver at the SAN or North Shore Private would be the closest and then you need to find a dr that delivers there.
There's a fb group for northern beaches mums that could probably give you some recommendations.
Being in Avalon you've got a long drive to the private hospitals; if you birth naturally you might want to consider mona vale just for convenience
Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy!
