    Default Strange fruit/seed?

Could anyone tell me what kind of plant/fruit/seed/nut this is? I have just bought a house with a substantial amount of different fruit and veg trees (about 15 different kinds). On a stroll this arvo, I came across this 'thing'. the others on the tree (around 3mts high) were a more orangey coloured, whereas the smaller ones (unripe) were green. Any ideas? FYI, I cut it open and it smells awful. This picture is one of the less ripe ones.

You need to have posted a certain number of times before you can do that, maybe 5?

These are only quite small. About the size of a sugar plum.
