I've been following along and wish you girls all the very best!! I am embarking on the ED route too, and it seems like a different kind of stress compared to ivf but so much more promising! Fingers crossed for you all xx

Sunnygirl – Re your question on donor no no’s. For us it was cancer, heart conditions, any serious health issues and BMI. I also felt very strongly against having a smoking donor, but i ended up choosing one who was a light smoker. I loved her profile and especially a picture where she looked so much like my niece.

Crabby – Congrats on your BFP. Like the ladies have said, bleeding is very common. I’ve had my bleeding and spotting incidences too. Hang in there.

Canuck and PSS – It’s probably still too early to test. I wasn’t brave enough to POAS that early. Hope the BT will bring you positive results.

Blinky – Thinking of you and hopethat pain’s gone away now.

Hello everyone, I stalked these SA threads alot for information prior to my husband going to CFC - so very helpful. Mostly on the down low with only a few comments but I was on the 2014 roll call. Very happy to say our beautiful, healthy little girl was born November of last year! Life couldn't be any more wonderful Great to see so many other success stories out there too

Question for EMSKI if you see this and get a chance to reply. I noted you are going back to try your 2 iffy embryos in June! Very exciting. We will be going back for a second baby (hopefully!) from the 2 embryos we have there too. Curious to know what you call "iffy"?! Our embryos are graded a pre-blastocyst and a 3AA. Anyone else on these threads get pregnant from similarly graded frozen embryos?? CFC have confirmed a standard 80% survival rate so we should have one to transfer but it's a long way to go in the event we lose both blasts in the thawing out process! We got pregnant with our daughter from 2 x 4AAA's, both took but one failed before heartbeat stage. We loved our donor's profile and funnily enough saw her in the flesh at the CFC lobby due to a scheduling stuff up!! Dr LeR was very shocked and my hubby and I after immediately recognising her from her child pics, looked away to ensure she didn't see us staring open mouthed at her and figured out who we were as a result! Anyway, she was beautiful and happy and relaxed and ideally we only want a sibling from her DNA at this stage especially as our daughter is so perfect!! The issue is that after we were her first recipients, she has proven popular and has just been selected again for a fourth donation so we may not get the chance to do another fresh cycle. We'd really want these frozens to work!

@twirlywhirl of course I'll see it.. I can't stay off the forums lol! Congratulations on your little girl!

I think ours a one x pre blast and one 4AB. We also want the same donor but she's currently pregnant so that's not an option right now. Also a FET is much cheaper and worth at least attempting.
    Approx costs are
    Cycle $750 AUD
    Flights $1500
    Accommodation (*4 star) $1300
    Spending probably about $700
    Meds in AU $300

Did your hubby leave a sperm sample in SA? If so could you enquire about doing using that and maybe freezing all until you're ready to go? That way you might have a chance at the same donor.

Haha Thanks for the congrats. Same to you! Your little girl is beautiful!

Thanks heaps for the info. No we didn't on leaving some of hubby's sperm in CFC. We should have in hindsight! We did already get a quote for doing a freeze all cycle in the event the donor was keen to do another donation after this fourth one - but like you say, it is a hell of a lot cheaper to attempt with the frozen embryos first! At the very least I get to see Cape Town again - love that place - and of course the shopping

@twirlywhirl You can also do it in 4 days not the 8 I'm doing...that would cut costs further x

Twirly whirl, I did my last FET in 4 days (less really). Arrived Sunday night, transfer Monday, rest/shop Tuesday, left Wednesday!

The time before I was there less than that. Arrived Thursday night, transfer Friday and left on Saturday!

First time we made a holiday and were there for 15 days.

Early days, but if these guys made it through the long flight and 5-day (still on-going) bout of gastro they can make it through anything.

I'M PREGNANT! I am so excited. 9dpt beta of 103. Progesterone on the low side at 16.3. Good estrogen at 1348. Upping the progesterone once I get off the computer.

I have no symptoms (severe gastro is travel-related). Going in on Friday for second test.

Thank you all for your support on this roller coaster journey!
