Wazbub I think you aren't too young. It's a reality thing. You've well and truly tried and those rggs aren't going to get better.

I applaud your sensible approach and your choice to do what it takes to realise your dream.

I'm 44 this year and did 5 cycles with my own eggs last year. I wanted to go donor after 2 cycles but ashamedly got sucked into the hype even though I knew the reality. 12 months on from starting treatment I am proudly 3 months pregnant because I took the initiative to do what would give me the best chance of success.

I'd recommend Cspe Town as the donors are gar younger than what is available in Australia and the system is relatively straight forward and well established. Good luck.

Hi Wazbub, welcome to the thread!
Despite your age you've already been through a lot, sounds like you've explored all your options and I presume your DH has been already tested too?

In answer to your question re age - no it's not too early at all! If the quality of your eggs is not good then that's something you and your DH have (and sounds like you two already have) to accept! I salute that as for many of us it takes years to come to terms with this harsh reality and then you think and think what to do and years go buy and uups...you just celebrated your 40th or more and you actually really really want kids. So what can I say, start early, you've got nothing to lose!

DE journey is different but as a mother of one DE boy and 6 weeks preggers with nr 2, I can say that this is very emotional yet so rewarding and amazing journey! You never regret and at the end of the day, YOU will be the mother of you baby (or all 4 )!

Cape Town was a great experience for us - CFC and the agencies...nothing but good words to say!

Wishing you and your DH all the best as you enter this next journey on making your dreams come true! X

Wazbub โ€“ I agree with KMP and Devaki. I also donโ€™t think youโ€™re too young. If youโ€™ve done as many cycles as you have and done all the relevant tests, and your doctors are telling you itโ€™s egg quality, then maybe you need to look into DE. I know that sometimes egg quality isnโ€™t age related, there are women in their early 20โ€™s that have low AMH, poor egg quality etc. Sometimes it just has to do with oneโ€™s body, not necessarily age. I also stubbornly did 2 cycles last year until i had to face reality. I think once i accepted my eggs where no good, the transition to DE was very easy, and now i really wish i had done it sooner and saved so much time, money and heartache. I think you need to realistically look at your situation, think about all the tests youโ€™ve done, the cycles youโ€™ve done, and your journey and consider which path will lead you to your dream of being mother. All the best.

January โ€“ Thanks for the roll call.
KLM โ€“ Those numbers are looking good. So happy for you.

Thankyou for the update January - it does feel nice to see my name still there .. (Especially after last weeks drama )

KLM - sounds like your numbers are doing all the right things.. X

Wazbub - welcome to the thread. It would come as no surprise to you that yes we too are full supporters of DE in Cape Town. As for the age thing I probably wouldn't let that sway you. I know for our own experience we didn't start for a family until I was 33 (we met and married in a year). By the time we were referred for fertility treatment at 34 our prognosis was already very poor. We too did the rigours of multiple OE unsuccessful attempts. By 37 our beloved FS was honest and recommended DE and admitted it was probably what we would have needed to do even if I was 10 years younger. For us it still took two attempts to get our blessed BFP (7weeks today!).
I think if your DH and yourself have reached a point where you can accept DE then you should go for it. We wish we had been pointed in that direction earlier...

After all any pregnancy is always going to be easier to manage the younger you are and will also allow you the time to have the big family you want...

Devaki - congratulations. Hang in there...I'm sure it's torturous waiting for scans - in the meantime hopefully Blinkys story can inspire you.

Annabelle - glad your bleeding has settled - sound like thing are progressing well.

Faith fantastic news for you - congratulations ๐Ÿ˜Š

AFM - well NK test results are in and it appears I don't have a killer uterus ๐Ÿ˜‰I know it's a good thing and I don't want that issue - but there is a tiny bit of me that felt it would offer me an answer on why the last attempt didn't work and maybe it would bolster my hope for this round. Now I'm back to being concerned about the embryo quality.
I don't suppose any of you have had success with frozen embryos when the fresh transfer had failed? I need some inspiration that this can work.

Time to start clexane tonight - I hate them as I find them the most painful..60 mg this time instead of the usual 40. Blah.

Hoping....many people get pregnant from frozen embryo after fresh transfer fails.

They only freeze and transfer good quality embryos. That's all you can focus on, and not every embryo results in a pregnancy, even in healthy normal pregnancies.

Stay positive and that's the best you can do. What will be will be. Don't think frozen reduces your chances because it doesn't. ๐Ÿ˜†

    Hi Ladies,

Thanks so much for the encouragement. Deep down i know DE is the right direction and it helps seeing and hearing the results achieved on this forum.

Blinky i was so glad to read your BFP after reading your story over the last couple of days.

Ive spent the afternoon donor hunting. So much to think about and consider!

Had a 5am scan today...yes Wazza starts early! And haven't we got news for you...we have two on board after all! First one's hb had picked up to 110-120 and Wazza was very pleased. The other turned out had picked up too, this time fetus visible, measurable and hb 90.
We are naturally in shock....good one of course wow wow wow!
In the last two days I have already felt lightly nauseated so I kind of expected somewhat positive news but that was like icing on the cake news!
The blood area was gone but Wazza said I should remain on bedrest for another week at least and then until 12 weeks still on rest (no entertaining, no going out, no shopping, cleaning etc). So rest is best to protect these midgets (like W said)!
Ps...already ordered in laws to fly out next week from the uk! Urgent Help needed in this household! Lil man still sick and now hubby ill too.
Hi to all and hope you are all tracking well! X
