Update: good and bad news. Bad news, can't do transfer Monday as I'm high risk OHSS. Kind of good news, 21 eggs. Not sure exactly how many are mature yet though.

It is still not a bad number. Quality over quantity.

Hi girls, just checking in. @allykat congrats on 7 mature eggs - just remember you only need one. Good luck hon. Better to wait to do the transfer when you're fighting fit. How did they go finding sperm to fertilise the eggs?

The lab called today. Turns out there were 21 eggs, 10 are a sure thing for fertilisation and 5 they're not ruling out but are unsure on them. They will call on sat with an update. They will freeze some on day 3,5 and 6. They also got 6 more vials of sperm to freeze. Good out come. I'm pleased. Just need to heal so I can do a FET next month.
Hope all is well for all you girls.

@allkat111: yes, congrats! OA is what you want and you are all set to go. Good news.

I am a bit confused with the info the lab gave you. Didn't they know by now that how many eggs they used for injecting the sperm? Or did you mean 10 have been fertilized? Also, why would they freeze some on day 3, 5 and 6? This is a very strange strategy. Most clinics just decide to grow them either day 3 or day 5 based on the number of eggs being fertilized. Day 3 embies have a higher chance of not surviving the thaw because they have less cells. Sometime they lose cell during the thawing process. It is a natural selection to grow them to day 5. Most embies don't continue to grow after day 3. Not sure about day 6. It depends what stage they are in. Anyway, the hardest part is over. Have a good rest.
