Sorry to take so long to reply bbhope. I told my OB we were using donor sperm and she forgot pretty much after our first appointment. When the baby was born she kept saying she couldn't figure out who the baby took after looks wise, mumma or dadda! It actually annoyed me a little and I wanted her to remember but didn't keep correcting her.

MissJude.... yes, we've made the decision only to tell a few immediate family about using donor sperm, so I know the "who does she take after" questions, "your eyes", "DH nose" etc are going to be something we're just going to have to wash over (lie about) for the rest of our lives. That is, until DD blurts it out to someone about the donor sperm, and the rumour mills sets in place!!

    Default Azoospermia #2

I like twosouls answer "he/she just looks like him/herself". Or grandparents etc. Believe it or not, I have been practicing the first line with my friends baby whenever they asked me if their baby looks like the father or the mother. . The hard part is that I always want our baby to look like dh (he has all the nice features) but now I don't know what I want. I am too afraid the baby will too much like the donor! That says, I am happy as long as the baby is healthy and safely here.

A lot of planning with interstate IVF, isn't it? But i am sure that when you look back, you won't regret doing it for a closure/moving forward. So much better than sitting in the limbo land. You are not that far off. It also took us 3 yrs to get here. Hope you are the lucky one.

    That's great you're moving forward.

It is such a relief when things start to actually happen.

Are you using DrG for mTESE? And what FS is doing your egg collection?

DP had a realisation last night. My cycle has decided to start almost 2 weeks early so the nurse has booked me in on the 7th May to practice and collect my drugs. I let DP know last night that things may be shifted a little earlier than we thought. Must have taken a few minutes to sink in, then he goes "so it's only about 6 weeks until they cut my nut" lol he's terrified already.

For anyone who is looking into mTESE with DrG, we just received our invoice for $1,725 ($700 per testicle + $325 for a scientist to be present), and I think I'll get some of that back from Medicare.

He did a good, thorough job - he was in there for 2 hours!

I know it's just another expense, but for us, $1,725 is worth it for piece of mind
