Yes, when DrG did the mTESE (two years ago now) it was timed with my EPU. That really is the best option - fresh eggs and fresh sperm. But perhaps Dr G's got really busy since then. At that time, Dr G was only operating out of a north Sydney hospital, so my EPU was moved to that same hospital, which meant I couldn't have my regular FS, but instead I had another one from the same clinic, who was actually really lovely, and I think for the EPU it really didn't matter.
We went and saw DrC today and he is so nice!
Of course DH said " DrW said I could be left with no testicles" and DrC explained that was not the case.
He gave DH 15-20% chance and said that he is hopeful of finding some because DH has normal size testicles and they are firm. He said firm means there may be sperm.
He said he works with the FS (he knew our FS as soon as I mentioned her) and they do them on the same day. They are done at different hospitals across the road from each other.
That's good to hear. Now u just need a date.
Yes . First need to save $$ and see the FS to get all my testing done. We are also going to put DH back on vitamins for min 3 months to improve the quality of the sperm if there are any there.
Question ... if they found non mature sperm can they still be used for IVF or does it have to be mature sperm?
Yes, they can use the baby sperm. If all Sertoli only, it won't even have baby sperm. I think the chance of finding mature sperm is extremely slim because if it is mature, it would have made it out and found in several SA.
Thanks @bbhope this is what I thought too but I was talking with someone this morning that said all that was found was non mature sperm so they are going to do DS. They did say they found heaps and her DH has sertoli as well.
I bet the reason is quality. What's their fertilisation rate? A big comparison is that with DS, we hit nearly 90% rate. With Dh, 40%.
You can use spermatid (baby sperm) but you just have to be extremely lucky to make it happens.
AF is late and I know for sure I am not pregnant :-( if only I could hope....
Pregnant for the first-time?
Not sure where to start? We can help!
