    Default Eek mould!

We just discovered that the underside of our 9 month old couch is covered in mould! The upholstery seems fine, it's the wooden frame that seems to have taken all the damage.
Is there any hope of safely cleaning it or should it just go straight to the bin?

Ugh, I can't wait to move out of this damp, old apartment.

I wonder if you can steam clean it, then leave it out in the sun?

Id buy some F10 concentrate to mix up and spray your couch outside, amd leave to dry.
You can buy it online and at vets, reptile and bird stores.

Its a veterinary grade product that will kill mould spores and doesnt require rinsing. So you could clean off your couch and the mould with the F10 in a spray bottle, and then spray it again and leave to air dry to ensure you didnt miss any/it kills remaining spores

We had this happen to a cane toy box. I arrived it best I could and air and sun dried it. Seemed to work.

I find vinegar is good for mould then sun dry. I guess it really depends if the mould is superficially on the wood or in it.

Clove oil kills the mould spores.

A lot of good tips, thank you!
So it sounds like it is still salvageable, honestly our first thought was to just abandon our apartment and all of our furniture and burn it down as we leave… Can you tell we're a bit of sick of dealing with this place?

We also have no real access to direct sunlight so need to have a think about how to do that.

    Thanks again for the replies!
