The only downside to timber floorboards is you can't get them really wet with a mop, but you can get really authentic looking laminate floorboards these days. Quickstep have a great range of authentic looking laminate
The moisture and timber floors is really the only thing holding me back. Especially in the kitchen and when walking out of the bathroom. Plus the kids spill everything, even spill proof bottles???!

I really like the authentic looking vinyl floors and they are moisture resistant, just feel weird putting in vinyl.

If you wipe up spills straight away it's not an issue. Depends where you I've I guess. I'm in Adelaide and we are very dry here with very low humidity so not an issue for us.

I don't like the sound of vinyl under foot. I also think that has a tendency to wrap too with moisture

    I really can't decide
I much prefer tiles. We had tiles at our old house and they were way easier to clean than floorboards. Though in saying that, our floorboard area is way bigger than our tiled area at the old house so maybe it's just how long it takes to mop that makes me feel like it's harder.?

We installed wood look vinyl floors in our walk in wardrobe...(tried to attach pic but it didn't work!)

I've lived in houses with wood floors and tiles and my preference would be tiles. our current place has large glossy cream tiles and I love them. I like being able to see all the dirt, dust, hair so I can get rid of it.

We're also doing a small extension and will be installing a kitchen in this area
