Default Gold Coast Public Primary Schools suggestions

    Hi all,

We we are pretty new to the GC and looking to buy a house but as I am pregnant we would like to be in the zone of a good public school.

The areas we have been looking at are Ashmore, Labrador, Coombabah and Helensvale but I am open to suggestions preferably North of the GC and reasonable distance from a train station as my partner commutes to Bris a couple of times a week.

If if you know of any good schools or any that I should avoid I'd love to hear your suggestions!!!

    Thanks!!

I went to Bellevue Park State School in Ashmore and it was a fantastic school. If we still lived on the Gold Coast my children would be going there.

I've heard negative feedback about Coombabah and Biggera Waters state schools. My friend in Coombabah is struggling to find a decent school she's in the catchment zone for.

I'm in Upper Coomera and have heard lots of bad things about Upper Coomera state college but Coomera Springs and coomera rivers state schools get good positive feedback. My son will be going to Coomera Springs state school next year. I'm happy to send him having spoken to lots of parents and heard how great it is.

Thanks Tamute, still not sure about Coomera being so far North, but I am very interested in Bellvue Park I have read a few good things about Bellview; that and Ashmore state School are on my list of potential schools based on reviews I have read and their annual reports, but it's great to hear actual feedback from other mums!

    Thank you, much apreaciated!!

Thanks Bond Girl, I have also found some bad feedback regarding Coombabah schools it's not sounding like somewhere I want to move to anymore. I'm not sure if we want to go as far up as Coomera at this stage but I will definitely look into Coomera Springs, as a good school is a big priority.

Thanks for for the great advice!

I went to the high school in Coombabah and honestly not the best school, not sure about the primary though. Not an area I'd choose to live though.

My sister goes to Upper Coomera State College and academically its quite good but there are some other issues (bullying and a bad reputation for drugs) so I probably wouldnt go for that school either. (She has gone to the school since she was in grade 1, shes now in grade 11.

Thanks Peanutmonkey, I think we've definitely ruled out Coombabah!

Coomera state college doesn't sound good, bullying and drugs are definitely not something I want my child exposed to! I think it would be good to be near a good primary and high school for some consistency same friends all the way through school is always good.

Thanks again for all of your great advice Peanutmonkey!!!
