Thankyou @kizmetzing it was a FET of a 5day blast after a failed fresh cycle last year, we have 3 other frozen embryos. What mg thyroxine are you on? I've been on 50mg per day since beginning December.

I'm on thyroxine for hypothyroid and prednisolone for antithyroid antibodies, I asked for a reading of both before transfer and I only got a tsh result which was 2.6 down from 4.2. They said they couldn't do an antibody reading because they were currently treating it.. ahh yeah you're treating my thyroid too but you just have me that result. If my antibodies were still high and the prednisolone wasn't being effective why did I go ahead with transfer?? Second raging question: I've now heard that tsh should be below 2 for conceiving.. then why didn't they suggest i wait another month for it to decrease more?? And thirdly, if this is ectopic, why did the transfer doc place it so high? Why did we pay for an incorrectly placed or a badly timed transfer?? I don't want to be rude to my FS but Im upset and this will be my first loss.. I've never been pregnant before now. I've had mild cramping on and off the last 2 days but no spotting or bleeding I assume cos progesterone is still high. If it's over I just want it over I don't want to drag out a slow developing failure. I'm sorry to be insensitive by not responding to other girls experiencing difficult stuff at the moment, I'm being selfish and emotional
I'm hearing you on this one. My old FS transferred when my TSH was 4.3, I didn't know it had to be lower at the time as I wasn't identified as subclinical hypothyroidism then, I got pregnant, and it wasn't identified until my GP did pre-pregnancy bloods around week 5 or 6, which is when the baby needs it most. I wasn't on thyroxine then, and we started the thyroxine but I miscarried silently and had to wait what seemed like an eternity to use misoprostol to induce mc around 10 wks which was beyond horrible.

I was sooooooooo upset about it when I realised that the thyroid was something that should have been checked and identified, as it was clearly not optimised for transfer. Of course I will never know if that embryo was truly competent for developing into a healthy baby, however, I do feel that optimising thyroid levels for pregnancy should be bread and butter for clinics that specialise in reproductive medicine. You are well within your rights to question why this was missed. After this whole fiasco I decided to place the management of my thyroid in the hands of an endocrinologist, at my Gps suggestion.

As for ectopics they are just 'one of those things'. Some say it can happen with too aggressive flushing at transfer, but it can also just happen I think due to factors within your uterus/tubes. Kind of just bad luck.

Seems a bit strange about the antithyroid antibodies and not making that diagnosis before starting to treat you, especially because this should in theory be justified due to the potential risk to the baby of cleft palate,... what dose of pred are you on? I know they start around 10 if they haven't diagnosed you with anything, sometimes 'just to see if it will help' but the therapeutic dose for autoimmunity is around 25.

really feel for you Hun, look after yourself at the moment and fingers crossed your hcg is up today. X

Hi girls so just spoke to the lab and am happy we have 1 good blast to transfer today. Bit bummed that looks like I'll have nothing to biopsy and freeze. But like everyone says, it only takes one... I'm trying to stay calm and positive!

@DellaDella - I'm so sorry you are going through this. It's so frustrating to feel like you're not being managed properly. My thoughts are with you. If you can, and I know it's so hard, try to focus the frustrations into your new plan, like butterfly said, maybe an endocrinologist to manage might be an option? I can't remember who told me this but someone on this forum told me that in ivf it's always good to have a plan b and c to focus on when the plan a doesn't go to plan. Big big big hugs to you.

@bella25- Good luck on the transfer today. Fingers crossed this one is a sticky one. @stillhoping83 - good luck today! Can't wait to hear the update. Make sure you relax nicely after. @DellaDella- I am so sorry for what you are going through. The uncertainty is just heart wrenching. I can relate to how you feel about the TSH problem. I feel like I am constantly reminding my FS about things HE should be thinking of! It's very frustrating...
