    Default Allocation of gender in kindergarten - does it matter to you?

    Say your DD has been placed in a class of 16 kids with 4 girls only. Today was day 1; and it seems so far she is the only female in the class.

    What would you do? Does it matter?

    yes it matters, and I would go talk to the school ASAP to make sure their will be other girls in the class.

    If there are other classes with girls they need to either shift some of those to your class, or shift your girl to their claiss.

    Being the only girl in a class of boys isnt ideal for social development (and that is what Kindy is all about).

    If you dont have a choice that is one thing, but I wouldnt do it if there was a choice.

    If there was another class that was full of girls, then yes it would bother me. They should try and allocate the genders as evenly as possible.

    Yes it would bother me. I have a friend who's daughter is in a year with a very small number of girls in the year and it has been really problematic for them and she has considered moving schools several times. I would not be happy for my daughter to be the only girl in the class. At my friend's school, they ensured all the girls were in a class together (there was only 5 girls in the whole year).

    There was one other girl present when I picked her up.

    I am giving it two more sessions and then will decide if I act I think.

    If there are more girls in other classes I would think it was odd for her to be the only one. At our kindy we have 8 kids and only 1 girl, she is coping fine and will be in a p-2 composite class next year so it will improve then.
