If your cycles are generally around 40 days, you would ovulate somewhere around day 32. So I doubt you would even have had a chance to have your egg fertilised yet. As a rule of thumb you ovulate 14 days before your period arrives.

LH is lutenising hormone to do with ovulation. It's similar to HCG but not the same. HCG will show up on an LH test but LH won't show up on a HCG test.
@Amour, given the history of long cycles, it is entirely possible that your body geared up to ovulate, didn't do it and it ovulating now. I say DTD to be safe! If you've been trying for awhile, you could have been missing O entirely. If you had a 35 day cycle last month, you O'd on CD21 (assuming a 14 day luteal phase).

Thanks so much. I was just thinking the same thing today. No wonder nothing has worked so far. I usually stop testing after I get my first positive OPK.

I think I'll continue to do the OPK test (with temping) for the rest of the days until my AF arrives. I'm curious to see when I stop getting the positives!

Good call...but have you DTD? That's the important bit! Inquiring minds need to know! 😂

Don't you just love TTC and forums. I would not normally ask someone I don't really know "hey, have you had s3x lately?". 😝
