Is someone coming in with you?

With my last bub (he's 19mo now - beautiful and healthy and trying to play with my face lol), I had a cvs and an amnio (cvs wasn't done right....).

My hubby couldn't come with me (I didn't push it) so our lovely genetics counsellor came in both times. It helped as she was explaining things to me before, during and after. A credit to her, she's awesome & still in our lives because of our daughter with a genetic disorder

    ANYWAY sorry

Can you practice some meditation and relaxation over the next few days? Just lie in bed, and breathe deep so your belly rises. Let out your breath slowly. Then think about relaxing your body from the toes up - toes, ankles, knees, thighs, hips... Slowly slowly. Keep breathing. Count your breaths if needed.

In the exam room, you can do this aswell. Eyes open you can pick a spot on the ceiling, or eyes closed.

I only looked at the monitor when they did the initial and final ultrasounds. I let them do what they needed to do, and just focused on my stillness and relaxation. This also helped with the labour.

    Good luck xxxx

It's so good to hear of others having an amnio and their bub being healthy.

My husband will be with me on the day and the following day as I work on my feet so the doctor advised two days off.

Thank you for your advice i will definitely give it a go I think I need to relax a bit.

How long was it until you got the results?

They called me within 3 weeks because they were looking for a specific thing

My 5.5yo daughter has a genetic disorder called Rett Syndrome - so I also want to reassure you that life can still be good on the 'other' side.

Deep breaths and relaxing thoughts x

The test is on Monday morning. Two days time. I am very scared and nervous.

Then the waiting game begins for the results. They said two weeks but if I decide to do something they call the fish test I think it was then the initial results will be ready in 48 hours. This will cost me money but I think I am prepared to do that as I feel like I just need to know and hopefully everything is ok.

    Thanks for the support xx

I had one. I paid extra for the FSH results but they still took a week because of the weekend :/.

My dad came with me. They did a scan to check the baby was ok. Then used an ultrasound to guide the needle in. Don't look. Just stare some where else.

I had a slight pain on leaving in my side. That night I woke up and the pain was excruiating. I needed to pee badly so I hobbled to the toilet and after I went the pain was completely gone! No idea what that was about.

My DD was fine. Best of luck! Trust in the professionals.

I had a CVS and did the FISH, it came back by 24 hours. So glad I did, two weeks wait would have been terrible, I had a 1:7 risk of Downs after my scan and bloods. All came back normal luckily. Wishing you all the best for the procedure and hope they get results back to you quickly.

I hope I get my results back that soon. I just want it all over with but at the same time I am petrified.

I am only having two days off work. I hope that's enough time I work on my feet all day and I'm a bit worried.
