Default WWYD? Hitting a car and neighborly relations

It's 7am on a cold, dark morning. You're obviously in a hurry and reverse into your neighbor's car right as they are opening their blinds. They very obviously have seen you and are coming out to talk and check the car.

    Do you?

A: drive off before they get outside. It's was most likely a tap and you're in a hurry.

B: get out to quickly check you haven't done any damage and apologize before heading off.

    C: other

If you're the neighbor in the house, what do you do?

A: leave it be and check on the car later

B: run out to check it's fine and knock on their door to speak with their partner when you realize they drove off.

    C: other.

C: I would check the damage and knock on my neighbours door and apologise and explain.

So I guess the second part of the question is now not relevant!

But I am on good terms with all our neighbours and would hate to risk having an ongoing issue with them

    C. Speak to the neighbour & apologise/exchange insurance details etc.

If I was the neighbour I would go outside & speak to the person who hit my car - if they drove off I'd speak to their partner & leave my details with them in good faith that the neighbour didn't realise they'd hit my car..

either way - speak to the neighbour and deal with it

(or at least acknowledge it to deal with it later if you/they are in a huge hurry and the damage isn't incapacitating the car. You know where each other lives)

    C) Get out, check the car and speak to the neighbor. If it was urgent I get somewhere on time, I would still stop, get out and explain to my neighbor that I'm so sorry and will fix it up when I get home at x o'clock of that's ok with them.

    B. Stop, check and apologise. Several reasons- it's the right (and legal) thing to do, you were seen doing it and also you will continue to see this person on a regular basis. If there's no damage fine, great. Off on you way.

Being in a hurry is NO EXCUSE not to drive away without looking. It only takes a few minutes to check and exchange details if necessary.

Plus god forbid you did damage to the car - you may come home to find either the cops called or your place vandalised!

And if that was my car being hit of course I'd rush out to check.... As if you'd just sit there and go "oh I'll pop out later and have a squiz" lol

Oh and C as well. I'd probably die from embarrassment and shame for my poor driving and hide from my neighbours in the future.....maybe consider moving house lol

C: Go and talk to the neighbour. I would be livid if I saw someone hit my car and they just drove off.

Not only that, I thought you couldn't just damage someone's car and drive off?
