    Default H3O Challenge

DH and I decided to do the H3O Challenge for health and to set a good example to DS 3yo.

It's day 4 and I am really struggling with no Coke. I can go without soft drink and juice no problem. But that red can is screaming my name. I don't even drink it every day.

Could I have an addiction or do I only want it because I can't have it?

had to google what it was

(H30 challenge - to exchange sugary drinks for water for 30 days)

I dont think I could do it to be honest.

I have tried really hard to reduce my sugar intake - and have been doing really well - but it involves a can of coke zero every 2nd day or so when I desperately need that something sweet.

Once I get the no-sugar thing back under control, I will give this a go

Giving up general juice and soft drink is not as hard as I thought it would be (but then I am only on day 5). Really missing my Coke though. But my friend said the first week of giving anything up is the hardest.

Just got to push on through.

Sugar is an addiction, we stopped having any soft drinks in the house when DS was born and after a month or 2 you lose the craving - we only have plain mineral water and water in the house and stick to the rules I gave DS, you can have lemonade ( or any other soft drink for us!) at parties or special occasions! Sometimes we will have a fresh juice if we are at a shopping centre but I put a veggie in it so it's not as sweet

I'm not sure about the rules of the challenge but personally I think artificial sweeteners and diet soft drinks are really bad for us. Lots of chemicals and the artificial sweetener Aspartame has had some pretty bad results in studies I think. Including an addictive affect like sugar where the more you have, the more your body craves it. Just my opinion for what its worth!

We only drink tap water in our house. I find that whenever I've had a weekend of having lemonade etc it takes my body about a week to stop wanting it again. Easier just not to buy it in the first place lol

I cut out soft drink for 4 montha at the end of last year to break my addiction! Stick with it its so worth it.

Now I have a soft drink every now and again (maybe 1 or 2 glasses a week) but I dont crave it anymore and I turn to water first all the time.

I dont drink coffee though and I have my tea without sugar, so once I kicked my pepsi max habit I was fine.

I've given up Coke (again!) as of 2nd Jan, and decided to give up all otger sift drinks at the same time. I have sparkling mineral water when I crave something fizzy, and to give me a bit of a boost in the mornings I have berocca and at lunch time I have an effervescent multi-vitamin. They give me a bit more energy and satisfy my craving for something sweet. I don't miss sift drink or coke at all now and actually think 'ew yuk' when I see them. But the first week or so was really hard!
