lol some funny ones about the grandparents my father also told me to use 'sugar water' and 'honey' when I began with water early on, newborn (nothing else), and how I was given jelly babies at 6 months. I was shocked too I won't be holding the lollies out of his diet at all but he definitely won't be getting them until he is much much older!

My MIL asked me several times why my son hadn't started solids yet, starting from 3 months old, even though I gave her the same answer every time. She told me that I should let him have some of my Boost Juice because "juice is healthy". Yeah well no not really especially for an infant.
Then when he was 6 months and just started solids, we were having ice cream cake for a family member's birthday. When we told her DS wasn't having any she sighed and said "Well all my kids had ice cream by the time they were his age." She has 7 kids and they all have weight problems. Most are/were severely overweight. One is super skinny but only because he does so many drugs. Was going to point out that she clearly did such a great job with them but I bit my tongue
But I will say though that I never had anything but support from her with my choice to breastfeed, even after DS had past the age where most people consider it "normal".

My MIL gave my DS his first food EVER at 5 months old - a bowl of vanilla ice cream - without my permission, and said a bit of sugar is good for babies. I nearly killed her.
