Default DS waking up every hour please help!

Hi my Son is 9 months old,

    He has naps at 9 am - 11 am, 1 to 3 and then 7:30pm till 5am

the issue we are having is that for daytime naps he will wake up every 40 min

and then for night time naps he will wake up every 40min to 1hr, and he will be full awake but 5 am ...................

my wife have try dream feeding him, many self settle methods, non seem to work.

anyone has similar issues and know how to fix it or have had things that worked for them?

any suggestions on books, videos or support services we can contact?

my wife have had no sleep for 9 months now, we desperately need help, thanks.

Hey there not sure if this will do much help but my DS like going to sleep with white noise there a great app if you have iPhone that plays I used to put it in his bedroom put it on loud and he would fall asleep.

When he wakes up during the night do you feed him with any lights on ?? Is he breastfed or bottle fed?

Try swapping to goats milk which is gentler on the tummy. He also may have reflux. My DD stopped sleeping like that at 4m old. Reflux medication and swapping to goats milk formula helped.

11-1 seem really close together. I'd do 9-11 then 1.30 to 3.30. he may not be tired enough.

Do you have an early childhood health centre nearby you could get in touch with?
The nurses might be able to give you some help.

There's a brilliant book called how to solve your child's sleep problems by Richard Ferber. It's quite an old book so you might need to find a second hand one (I got mine second hand on Amazon in UK) and it was like a sleep bible for us! My ds was exactly the same until 5 months when we decided we needed to do something about it. The book is great as it explains what is normal so you can identify what the problem is as from experience from friends etc all babies seem to have different sleep issues. Ours was that our baby couldn't go back to sleep on his own and everytime he woke up at night (which is normal, we all do it many times a night but go back to sleep without realising) he was crying as couldn't go back to sleep in his own. As I've said this might not be your issue but the book goes through all sorts of problems. Our problem was solved within 2 weeks, our ds sleeps through the night 12 hours and will go to sleep pretty much anywhere on his own. Even if you don't agree in some of the methods it's really useful to try and find out why your little one is doing what he's doing.

    5am-9am 4 hours awake
    11-1 3 hours awake
    3-7.30 4.5 hours awake

He may need more regular wake times? Maybe he is overtired? 5am-7.30pm is a long day, even with the naps.

If he wakes at 5, I would aim for nap at 8.30-10.30. Then 14.00-16.00. Then bed at 7.30pm.
