    Default Twins Due in 2015

Hi everyone, I thought I'd start a new thread on the off chance there are some other twin parents to be out there!

I'm 9 weeks pregnant with di/di twins and would love to chat with others expecting more than 1 baby this year (or from twin parents who have gone through it all ready!)

It was a bit of a shock to see two little circles on that first scan but now we are over the moon - particularly because I've had horrible morning (all day and night) sickness and twins means I only have to go through pregnancy once!

These will be our first babies and we're in Melbourne.

Hey there! Congratulations on your twin pregnancy
I am mum to 3.5 year old twin boys and we're up in qld.
My boys were Di/Di as well. The pregnancy was too bad all things considered, but I did get super uncomfortable after about 25/26 weeks (I'm only 5 foot and my belly was massive lol).
They're our first babies as well, I remember they day we found out there were two on board - DH had a smile from ear to ear and I was all "you're joking, right?" Lol
Wishing you all the best for the rest of your pregnancy. Am happy to try answer any questions you might have

Hi! I'm currently 31 weeks with boy/girl twins. These are our first babies too and we are really excited! Pregnancy has been a bit rough, morning sickness wasn't too bad for me, but I've had severe pelvic pain since 14 weeks, and particularly over the last month all the nasty pregnancy symptoms have been making an appearance! Not long to go though!

Hi to you both! @phee83 I actually read your pregnancy diary just before I found out it was twins!

Question for you both, when did you start showing? I can already feel my uterus above my pubic bone at 9.5 weeks so am worried I won't be able to hide it for too long

I started showing almost instantly it was partially bloating from the fertility treatment, but I had to wear stretchy pants from 8 weeks (again partly because I had a lot of bruising from the injections and so couldn't handle even slightly tight pants!). At about 12 weeks I really couldn't hide it anymore so had to tell my employer, and when I told my students at 14 weeks quite a few had already guessed.

Congrats to you expectant twin parents! It's nice to see the multi forum being used again!

My mo-di boys turned 6 last October, they were my first pregnancy too. I didn't start showing until at least 4-5 months just like a normal pregnancy.

It is a bit of a shock hearing the news that there are two (or more!) of them, right?!

I had a very noticeable bump at 8.5 weeks, I didn't have to worry about hiding it though as we announced after our dating scan had shown two healthy little blobs with nice heartbeats.

Hi again all, hope everyone's good! I had my first obstetrician appointment last night at 9w 5d and got to see the babies again - so nice to see and hear strong heartbeats, and they were both wriggling around which totally surprised me!

The obstetrician was saying that he likes to try and prevent any growth or preterm about issues by having me stop work or work exclusively from home from 25 weeks!!! I was totally shocked but he explained that it was harder to stop issues once they started, so best to take it really easy from about that time.

What about you guys? When did you or will you stop working?

My fertility specialist originally told me to stop work and go on bed rest from 20 weeks! My jaw pretty much hit the floor! When I started seeing my obstetrician he was a bit more relaxed and encouraged me to go on leave 4 weeks earlier than I would've with a single pregnancy as I'll be 4 weeks bigger and uncomfortable, so perhaps 32 weeks. I told him i was hoping to work up to 25 weeks as that would take me to the end of the school year and be much easier for me to stop then. He was happy for that and so I stopped at 25 weeks. I'm so glad I did too! School staff start back tomorrow and I can't imagine trying to work now (I'm 31 weeks). I've heard other twin mummies working until much later but I take my hat off to them - it's hard enough just getting out of bed, I'd be useless at work!

I was (still am!) a bit anxious about the twins coming early so it was good for my peace of mind to be able to take it easy from much earlier in the pregnancy. My ob has been really happy with my health so far - who knows if taking leave early has helped. I think if you can afford to take leave that early then it's a good thing. I was just so lucky with the timing because I've been paid my holidays over the last 6 weeks and don't officially start maternity leave until tomorrow when school goes back so we didn't have the money issue.
