I agree @ozeymumof5. I was going to use the $400 to whack a debt into their school fees.

I probably will cry @LoveLivesHere if I can't figure something else out! And yes, it is disgusting behaviour. For the past 10 years I have been employed at a school where we were still using scissors from 20 years ago because THEY'RE SCISSORS! So long as they still cut there is nothing wrong with them? At the end of every year each teacher would do a bulk order, and get everything we believe our students would need. The first day was always exciting, seeing the kids walk in and get so excited over all their new supplies (without Mum or Dad having to fork out a single cent in fees just to have them!)

Unfortunately, that school is a 30 min drive away and just impractical to send my own kids there.

Our school has a similar system if works it doesn't need replacing. Our primary classes it is provided. High school we supply. The only set item is the calculator. It a set brand and model. It makes it easier on the teacher if everyone is using the same one.

Yep it's wasteful. I'm just over the whole school. Every week, and sometimes more than once a week last term it was 'send money for this, send money for that'. Christ, I'm broke! DF just had his pay reduced! I have no idea what they do with all that money...

    Nomsie -

I've got a phrase or two for you that generally fixes most of this stuff:

    Head Office

    Inequitable

I'm so sorry. What a disgusting school x

Is it a private or state school?

I'd hate to think of how mhch some parents waste. So many of my friends just ordered the year level booklist - seriously, I cut out booklist in half by going through whay he already had! My bestie just ordered the whole thing. What a waste of money.

I hope you can find away.
Maybe ask if setting up a direct debit would be enough to get the boxes. Don't underestimate the power of a crying mum who they know normally does cry.
Are you a part time or full time employee, employed for over 12 months? My understanding was that you were entitled to your old position upon returning from your maternity leave?

Oops sorry I meant to quote nomsie's post where she mentioned her employer had not offered her a position after her leave.

I ordered everything off the booklist and they delivered it straight to my door. Being pregnant, this made my life so much easier than having to go out and buy it.
