Thanks so much for the advice! Yes i definitely don't want to stay in patong itself. I like the option of escaping but not being to far if we want to go in. It's just hubby and myself going can't wait! Has anyone travelled in June?

I loved Holiday Inn ... but it is right in the middle of Patong.

If I didnt want Patong I would stay on Karon Beach. Gorgeous but big enough and close enough to be great.

If it's just adults going I would choose a nice resort in Patong. It's very quiet and relaxing inside the resorts and then you can walk to everything in Patong when you want to get out and about.

We've been in August before. It's low/monsoon season & the beaches can be dangerous as the currents are different from high season. It was very hot & humid, we had 2-3 days of rain out of 10. We had an amazing time!
In low season I would recommend staying somewhere more central - many restaurants in Surin & Bangtao close down for a few months. Kata or Karon would be good options. Everything in Patong is open all year round.
IMO it's the best time of year to go to Phuket cos it's cheaper & much less crowded, plus you escape the winter cold at home for some heat!
Get a room with a big outdoor space if possible so you have plenty of room to chill when it does rain.
Jungceylon is the big shopping centre in Patong, has a movie theatre, restaurants, day spas, markets in the basement - good place to spend a rainy day!
Be wary of speedboat tours in low season the sea can get very rough & some unscrupulous operators won't cancel for rough seas. Simba Sea Tours & Phuket Sail are both more pricey but are better maintained & will cancel if the sea is dangerous.

We also stayed at Phuket Graceland and it was fantastic! Directly across the road from the beach but not in the heart of the crazy patong beach area (easy walking distance if you want that but far enough away that you can also easily avoid it if you want).
