Yes, I did it a couple years ago, decided no family on Facebook, that literally meant everyone, only friends. The reaction was insane!

I've slowly added people again since having a baby as I created a secret group for him as it was the easiest way to share photos since we're overseas. But I've got my privacy settings so that some don't see what I post, so they think I'm not that active.

Was it petty? yes but the instant relief of having them gone felt sooo good! But poor DH has coped it. I just want their toxicity out of our lives but it didn't really work out that way
There's nothing that irks me more than when someone deletes me but leaves their partner as my friend. I know too many people who do/have done this so you can't see what they post but they can use their partner's login to see what you post. As soon as someone deletes me, I will delete their partner.

Also, I closed my Facebook and created a new one with an alias. Slowly the friends list on that one grew and after DS was born I opened my old one back up and deleted the one with the alias. I'll admit it was refreshing not having family members on my FB and feeling free to post whatever I liked without judgement!

Sorry I didn't mean you sound petty ... Just the whole people being offended and what a big deal blocking is. I honestly had no idea. I got sick of seeing a friends negative/passive aggressive posts so I blocked her. She's not like that in real life ... Just has this strange online alter ego. I had no issue with being her friend and quite liked her just don't like negativity in general. I got a whopper of a text from her. I honestly had no idea it was such a big deal. I've never even paid attention enough to know if I've been blocked. I'm not longer on FB. I'm not good with the whole social media etiquette and to be honest I'm kind of a FB s1ut when I'm on there ... Think multiple selfies, food pics and blow by blow convos I've had with my kids... I tend to clog up news feeds... I'm sure my friends list breathe a sigh of relief when I deactivate. Ha!

Hahahaha, I didn't think you were calling me petty! I had already thought it myself, anyway.

I'm the same, I'm totally THAT parent that I used to make fun of but I don't care. I did one of those My Social Books (you wouldn't know, it basically takes your FB and turns it into a photobook) and I had to edit it because it was over their max of 500 pages...it was only for the year of 2014! I live my life on FB.

I honestly didn't think they would even notice (I know I sure as hell wouldn't! Haha) and so quickly!!

Having family on FB is more obligation than anything else!

I hate that I have family on facebook! Especially MIL. She drives me mad sharing my photos on her wall. She doesn't realise that none of her friends can see them because of my privacy settings. I find that family also use facey as the only means of communicating and it really ****s me. Like we live far away from family and because of facebook we hardly get phone calls and the kids get basically no interaction from grandparents because they "see" them on facebook.
