    Default Long term Motilium use

Just interested to hear if anyone else has experience with this. How long did you take it for? Were you able to keep breastfeeding? Did you experience any side effects from taking it for an extended period?

DS is 6.5 months and I'm assuming I can finally wean off it once he's eating a lot more solids, but I'm not sure exactly how long that will be.

I was on 1 tablet 3 times a day. I only took it for about 8 weeks. I'm still breast feeding 10 weeks later with no issues. I had no side effects.

With my first I took it from 4 months until I stopped feeding at 8 months. 3 tablets a day, which was not enough to exclusively breastfeed.

With my second I took it from day 4 until I stopped feeding at 10 months. I needed 8-9 tablets a day to EBF, but settled on taking 6 a day +1-2 formula feeds a day.

The main side effect was a ridiculous appetite (in speeds up gastric emptying) therefore no weight loss, plus a little fluid retention.

I could never wean off it without my supply dropping proportionately.

    @deku

Did you have any side effects whilst taking it?
I'm just about to start but having second thoughts.
DD just have her tongue tie snipped and I'm wondering if I can boost my supply naturally.

So no hair loss or weight gain @Tinkers?
I've heard these things can happen.

No, I was fine on it and since being off it, no issues at all. I actually lost all my baby weight quite easily this pregnancy too.

    Lovely
Ah I think I'm just going to go for it.
After the last week and a half I was thinking DD had reflux.
She has been screaming for hours on end, very fussy, even when held.
Fussy when eating and all hell breaks loose after a feed, whether it be breast or bottle.
Today since the tongue tie snip it's like she's a different baby, even smiling in response to me while feeding. I'm really hoping htis is the end of the struggles we've had
just now she is happily lying in her bassinet, she has never done this.
So I'm thinking the reflux I thought she had was all tongue tie related.
it might be early days yet and I'll keep an appointment I have with the doc anyway but I've never seen her this content.

Great news about the TT snip helping Phony, I hope that's the end of feeding troubles for you

I've been taking it for 5 months now (only 1-2 per day) and no side effects at all, we're both in great health and DS's weight and growth picked right back up. He's 8 months now so I'll probably go down to just 1 per day soon as he ups his solids intake.
