Who knew rubbish bin etiquette was so controversial

I had no idea it would actually offend some people

No. Why would it? If someone's dropped rubbish near my house I pick it up and put it in my bin. I don't want rubbish lying around my street. A bin is for rubbish so it makes sense to have rubbish in my bin.

The curb is the concrete, the verge is the grass strip owned by the council between the curb and footpath

None of the above. My dog only poos when I tell her she can.
Granted, she's a guide dog but it's mostly not an option to poo while out.
If she does, I dispose of it at home.
