Default O/seas travel recs while pregnant?

    Hi all.

DP and I were considering going to Thailand for our last o/seas holiday (I'm not a fan of the word "Babymoon", lol) before 3rd trimester begins, but my doc said yesterday that I will need Hep A and typhoid shots before I go.

I'm not really comfortable with getting these just for a holiday and DP and I thought it would be a good idea to go somewhere where we don't need vaccinations.

Can anyone help? Also looking for somewhere that isn't a hassle with visas etc...

You will need Hep A for anywhere in Asia or the South Pacific, in fact any developing country. So unless you are happy to fly further afield then you might be stuck with getting Hep A. It's food borne so I would not risk not getting it.

Thailand would be a great pregnancy holiday!

Please look into proper pregnancy travel insurance that includes labour and care of the newborn, there are very few who are worth the paper they are written on.

DH and I went to Vanuatu for our honeymoon. Didn't need any extra vaccinations and no hassles getting visas etc (can't even remember if we needed one).

You could always try something like Whitsundays if you're after a beachy getaway without going overseas.

I went to Singapore and KL when I was 25 weeks. was awesome.

I had already had shots though - and getting insurance past 26 weeks is problematic so look into that (and dont risk it without insurance)

I went to Malaysia when pregnant. It was so great to go on the last holiday before kids.

    I didn't get any vaccinations.

I say go for it. Thailand is a great place to have a holiday.

Thanks for the ideas everyone and the insurance reminder. That was really helpful.

We did think of NZ but we were just there in August.

What do people think about travel injections while pregnant? My doc said they were category B2... She didn't seem concerned, but I haven't taken so much as a panadol this whole pregnancy...kinda makes me uncomfortable... 😮

We were considering Hawaii at one point, because the food/water is safe, no vaxxes are required and medical care is good. It could be tricky to get adequate travel insurance, though.

We're now thinking the Whitsundays may be easiest!

Don't write off O/S travel once bub is born. We took DS (10 months at the time) to Spain and it was fine.

We did NZ. We'd been to the South Island previously so this time we did a trip around the North Island and finished with four days in Queenstown. It was fabulous
