Congratulations Sydma! That's amazing news and gives me great hope. Hubby and I are just about to start our first cycle with Primary. We live in the ACT though so it's going to be a bit tricky with logistics, but we are excited to get started.

We had our specialist appointment with Dr Lukic the other day. She was lovely, she went through all our tests and we signed our consents etc. Butterflybabe, I was not asked about BMI, but did get a follow up call from one of the nurses to enquire about my height and weight. In the info booklet we got it says the woman's BMI should ideally be between 18-30 and that they do not take on anyone over BMI 34. But it was never mentioned in our consultation or our nurses appointment so I am not sure...

Anyway, fingers crossed for everyone undergoing this crazy IVF adventure and best wishes Sydma for a healthy pregnancy!

@Baby82, goodluck with ur ivf journey, we haven't started yet as I would still like to get my bmi down a little more so looking at starting September. Did they tell you both partners have to be present at all apps?? Because some people have said that and it's a bit hard with DH work for him to be present at all of them. When do u start your first cycle?? @sydma, how are you going with your pregnancy??, how far are you now?? Xo

Hi ladies, just wanted to share my Primary IVF experience too

I've started my IVF journey with Primary last month, this is our first Ivf try.

I'm 39 and DH 38, I have a painful history of late mcs (32 and 18 weeks), molar preg, ectopic preg, early mc - the doctor in EPAS North Shore said he never saw for all his years there anything like that.

Finally he suggested we go through ivf as we cannot afford to wait longer for natural conception, and also to have a chance to freeze embryos.

    And so we did.

I went through the puregon stimms for 10 days, then triggered on Wed the 1st of July (happy new FY! and had harvested 7 eggs. (They said that was from only the right ov, they could not access to the left and left there all 11 folls ready to pickup;((

on Day 5 (Wed 08/07) I had 1 best embryo transferred, and they told me 1 will be definitely frozen and 2 more which they will monitor for 2 more days for possible freeze also.

Dr McDonald did the transfer, she is the loveliest doctor! I asked her to have a closer look at my cervix as the last time my pap smear at local GP took 20 mins and a few unfriendly-shaped tools...So Dr. McDonald looked first, and used that mirror thing or whatever it called. Transfer went swift, no blood no pain just a few sec and then they showed on screen that all's gone where it should) The eagle had landed)

So my TWW started on Wednesday, getting through it with lots of work (a busy time there now), Netflix, books and paintings to distract from thinking "are we there yet"))

so far I'm really happy with Primary, all BTs and US were scheduled at 7am in the morning so I could do that not taking time and explanations for work.
We're with dr Lukic, I like her straightforward approach and determination for success, she's not too much in nice words and talking, but is really good and effective in all important things, organising things that works for us best (as put appts in the same day and arranging the first ultrasound on the first meet even when it's all was booked, she squeezed us in, so we not losing much time, did not have to arrange another visit and were able to start the very nearest cycle).

The ultrasound lady, Aisha, is also fantastic and very supportive.

So far I was charged $457 for day surgery (claimed my healthfund for the rest of $600) and $60 for the AHM blood test.

All meds are free (the first pack I had to pick up on the first day of cycle after blood test, then I had a box of Crinone on the day of ER and another 2 boxes of Crinone on the transfer day).

    Keeping my everything crossed))

Yes, they asked us to be both at all appointments, and that was not the most convenient thing...For the last appt with the FS and Nurse, having all papers including yellow Day Surgery form signed, I thought I can come alone. Turned out I could not, and girls at the reception did not let me through, even Skype connection with DH on the phone was not convincing...
So that day we had to postpone the app for 2 hours, and DH rushed from work just to learn that we are clear to start the IVF cycle...
When we told this all Dr Lukic she was quite surprised and said that clearly they should have let me in alone, because he was not necessary at that stage...but that what happened anyway.

@Irinko fingers crossed for your 2ww, hope it all works out positive :-) thanx for the reply, yeah we don't know weather to go through primary or liverpool as they are low cost also (not as low cost) only for the reason that DH doesn't have to be present at the apps as he is a truck driver it's kinda hard for him to make it to all and they really don't give you very much info over the phone. Let me know how you go....babydust 🌌

    Thank you!
I can tell you how many visits exactly required the DH presence, (As long as I still remember)))
So the first GP one - a longer one, all stories and reasons why you came there etc...Then GP refers you both to the tests - blood tests and a scan for you and semen test for the DH (they do not accept the other tests you've done, preferring to have them fresh). And together with the tests they set up the next appoitment with the GP again (to discuss the tests results) and also the fertility specialist. We done both in one day, just one after another. So this is your second visit there together.
Then the FS referred me for another couple of the blood tests (I have thyroid problem) and the AHM (which counts your ovary reserve). We've done that just in the next door lab, took 10 mins. THis visit also included the paperwork.
And the third visit was booked for the FS and the nurse (again one after anoher) which will be all about the treatment plan and technical details which nurse explained.
Then I managed everything by myself - bloodtests, picking the meds, injections, scans, etc.
Then they've set the egg collection and fertilising day, this one you cannot miss and have to have your DH - because that's a specified date based on your injections response and ovulation, this cannot be missed or moved, you have be both there to collect your eggs and his swimmers and make them meet))
The problem is it cannot be predicted earlier than 2 days (and I believe that does not depend on clinic - it's your individual body reaction). SO they sent a message on Wednesday afternoon as "Friday 7am you have to be at Darlinghurst Day Surgey" - and you have to be there, otherwise all your hard work with the injections and pumping yourself with all those hormones is useless. Also after the sedation you cannot drive(

All other visits can be booked 2-3 weeks in advance and moved around so you both can plan what's the best for you
For the transfer I went by myself, all was fine)

Me and my DH are both working full time, and we fully feel that inconvenience of rushing around getting together on all those visits, but I can say they are very understanding in there, and trying to work it out for you (apart of that day when I came by myself and had to rush him from work - but the Dr said that was the reception's fault).
    Good luck!!

    Default Update

Hi all been a while since i posted but so far so good with the pregnancy, im now 10 weeks.have been back to primary for a few follow up appt with dr lukic.they've called a few times too to check in which was nice. The viability scan was around 6 1/2weeks which showed a heart beat but growing slowly so was a bit worrying. Dr lukic kept me on the crinone to support my hormone levels which once you are pregnant isn't covered so costs $185 and i had to buy 2 boxes.then went back for another scan at 8 weeks which showed all growing well and the right size so big relief there. I asked about dna testing so Dr lukic gave me a referral for ultrasound care to do a harmony dna test $400 which along with the nuchal scan gives a lot better prediction of chromosomal issues and you also find out the sex at just 12 weeks😊 keeping everything crossed. Wishing you all the very best in your 2ww and hoping to hear from you with good news 🎉

    Fantastic news, Sydma! Well done))
And thank you for sharing the experience! I was wondering what will happen then and how to continue the Crinone, as I have only 1.5 boxes left (my BT is on Monday...cannot wait!))
I also was thinking about the NIPT (I did not do it last time, but think this time I will do all the possible tests and checks..)
What happens after 12 weeks? Are you going to your local clinic, or Primary will be looking after you till birth? Are you going public or private (if not Primary?)
Good luck with the harmony test and NT scan
