I used to get regular acupuncture and loved it. The only time I will sit still. I think I will consider going back as well.

    Default Acupuncture

Hi before i started ivf i did do acupuncture twice a week for about 4mths with a fertility specialist acupuncture lady in my area (ramsgate beach) in the hope id fall preggers naturally. i also took the Chinese herbs for about 2 mths too but they didnt agree with me. Although I still needed ivf the fact i fell pregnant first cycle could be a happy coincidence or it could mean that the acupuncture helped somewhat prepare my body for it. Im leaning towards it def helping from what ive heard and although it was pricey im glad i did it.

@TryingForNo1 - Yes the rubella is part of the testing panel. Finally found the request forms so I'm getting that done tomorrow. As far as I know, they want you to be immune- my level was 33 in May 2015 and my ob/gyn was hoping I would fall preg soon otherwise I would need a booster and that means no ttc for 3-6 mnths. I will ask at the nxt GP apptment if you dont get the answer on here.
@sydma - i've heard that acupuncture can increase chance of IVF so maybe its no coincidence that you fell preg 1st cycle!
I have been doing acupuncture since Aug when a friend recommended I do it to fall pregnant. I started off 3 times weekly ( yes it was very expensive) and thats with the chinese herbs. I cut back down to once weekly now. I definitely feel different- I had cold/ numb *** ( no joke) since I had a colposcopy in July and after 2 weeks of acupunture, it was gone. Definitely made this skeptic believe!!
@sydma - was your acupuncturist/herbalist chinese by any chance, because I've been to a non-chinese and a chinese herbalist and I found the chinese herbalist better. I suffered really bad indigestion when I was on the granulated herbs that the non-chinese herbalist prescribed. So I had to go back to my chinese herbalist to undo the 'damage'..Sorry I don't mean to be prejudiced but it might explain why the herbs didnt agree with you.

And yes I echo Billie2 and Danymatthew - acupuncture sessions are sooo relaxing. I actually look forward to the sessions...

Lets hope the acupuncture sessions helps ladies like it did with sydma!!

Why does your obgyn reckon that you have to wait for 3-6 months to ttc after rubella? That's just plainly wrong. The NSW health department as well as the VIC health department say 28 days after the last booster shot you can fall pregnant which means that if you need only one top up shot (which should be the case for low immunity compared to no immunity) then you would only have to sit out one cycle (if you get the shot on CD1)... This then gives you an avarage of 6 weeks... More than enough.

Hey @tjuls yeah went to a chinese lady. She said any doc can do a short course to be an acupuncturist but in china its alot more full on training and she'd been specialising in fertility for over 20 yrs so stick to the well established chinese docs id say.her office was wall to wall pics of babies and thank you notes from ppl she's treated successfully and she was recommended to me from a lady who fell pregnant while being treated by her. yeah were proper Chinese herbs but i started to get really bloated after a few mths.it may have had nothing to do with the tablets as i also at the time became alergic to avocado quite randomly. Id recommend to anyone. She also fixed my really bad carpel tunnel issues which was agony and constant and now it comes back really rarely. Thought while I was there might as well get everything fixed up! . The fact that worked so well made me believe it does something good.

Sydma, Im very close to you (Shire) and used to see a natural fert clinic with chinese herbs & acu. It didnt help us because only I went & we are male factor (didnt know at the time). But it relaxed the hell out of me & thats a huge benefit.

@TryingForNo1 - I know the state's recommendation on rubella vaccine and ttc but I don't know why my ob-gynae suggested waiting that long. I haven't been back to see him yet, but I'll keep that in mind nxt time I visit. I think I would just DIE if I had to wait another 3-6 mnths to ttc again..
@sydma - Your acupuncturist sounds awesome and very skillful to have so many successful women conceive. Thats so weird about the allergy to avocado! My acupuncturist actually suggested I hold off the ttc and IVF for 2 more months because she doesnt believe my body is ready yet. Hubby and I were devastated at the thought, so we just carried on as per usual while I still got treatment. We would be only half lying .. probably wont start IVF treatment til Dec/Jan anyways...and that would be 2 months since her suggestion.. haha
@Billie2 - Even doing it just to relax is a HUGE benefit in itself, esp when our bodies are being given all sorts of hormones and the tww etc.

I've been doing acupuncture for 1 year and I discovered how amazing and effective is! After dropping off from birth control, I didn't get my period for 8 months. My gynaecologist gave me progesteron, clomid, whatever, but they were just quick fix and not solving the problem.
well, after the 3rd acu session I got my period! And always had ever since, athough not super regular. I'm going to a community acupuncture, it's just $25/session and I found a lovely lady who got really attached to our case. She gave me lots of details about nutrition and self-practices to prepare my body at best and she will be treating me during IVF. Also my partner has been treated (we're male factor now), he improved but it was not enough for him.
I'm strongly convinced that having complimentary treatments during IVF will increase our chances!!
