    Thank you for all the suggestions. We plan do do a lot of driving, so im not bothered how far places are... Anything for the kids to enjoy...

    Been there, it's a cool place but be prepared to do a lot of walking up lots of very steep hills!

    Diamond Valley train station! It's in Eltham and cheap. $3 each for a ride on a miniature train. We love it every time we visit.
    I have heaps more but will have to look them up.
    If you don't mind a drive.
    2 hours south of Melbourne is Coal Creek. Like Souvenir Hill but coal mine village not gold.
