    Default d & c thoughts

So I got the devastating news today my baby doesn't have a heartbeat, this is my second time pregnant with both ending in miscarriages but times at 8 weeks first time I had a d & c unsure what to do this time let it happen naturally or go for another d & c what are your thought, I've longed to have a baby for so long and it keeps getting taken away

I'm so sorry for your loss

I had to wait 8 days between finding out I lost bub to having a d&c and that wait was unbearably long. I don't know if I could have then went through the physical side of a miscarriage.
If you're unsure, maybe you could ask to have the d&c booked for 'x' date and, if nothing happens beforehand', go ahead with it.

So sorry for your loss. It is a tough and personal decision. If you opt for the D&C ensure it is done under ultrasound guidance or hysteroscopy to minimise the risk of scarring.

I acquired severe scarring (Ashermans syndrome) after 2 unguided D&C's for miscarriages, both at around 8 weeks. I would've been a good candidate for medical management (misoprostol/RU486 tablets) but unfortunately this option wasn't offered to me but may be available to you if you ask.

    All the best xx
