DD is going through a phase of demanding she has books read to her literally from the second she wakes up in the morning. 6am, I won't have even had a chance to open my eyes & there's a book in my face!

Yes dh it is my fault we missed the giants even though you set an alarm, because I didn't cone and wake you up. Silly me for thinking you are a grown man who can respond to an alarm by waking up. Please continue to bithc through the day about how *I* made you miss a once in a lifetime opportunity.

    Dear my kids' Primary School,
    I told you so.
I told you last year that the kids would get confused.
I told you that having books for reading with American spellings would confuse them.
Now you are wondering why kids forget the 'u' and use 's' instead of 'c' all the time.
    Stop blaming my child.
Stop blaming all the kids and their parents for not working on it.
If you are going to insist on English spellings, then please use books with those spellings!

I am rope-able. You should see the note sent home.
I am on the P&C- there will be hell to pay for this.
They (K, 1 and 2 teachers) are actually blaming the parents (and kids!) for being lazy.

Ooh I'm so curious! Would you have time to scan the letter? If you feel ok about doing that of course :-)

American spelling is one of my pet hates! I would be so angry if that happened at DS1'S school.

Books are one of the huge learning tools for kids to learn how the English language works. You can't give them American spelling books and then say "oh, but don't do it like this when YOU write it!".
