Default Toddler sleeping in bed at home, what to do when out?

Bit of a silly question, but my 2 year old son kept climbing out of his port cot when out at friends/family - since then we have transferred him to his big boy bed - he roams around his bedroom a little but sleeps well in bed. Any suggestions for when we are out? I think he would just keep climbing out of port cot if we tried him back in there, and a bit worried about putting him on a bed because he moves alot during his sleep, he does 360 turns and will eventually fall off. So I supposed only other option is mattress on floor? Either way he'd be roaming the room so it would have to be kid safe - which not everyone's rooms are.. any ideas? Thank you!!

Does he have to have a nap when you are out? I'm just saying this because at that age, my kids could miss a nap every now and then, if we had somewhere to go.

Otherwise, you could always buy one of those kids blow up mattresses from Kmart or Target, or one of those kids fold out couches.

I would suggest sleeping him on a mattress on the floor of the room that you're sleeping in, so you can keep an eye/ear out for him in the night. Also I imagine it to be quite scary for a little one to sleep on their own in an unfamiliar place.

Or for a day sleepI would lay down with him until asleep and then keep door open so you can hear when he wakes up.
