    Default arthritis question

hi guys. my son is 6 weeks old and wen he was born my fingers started locking up esp at night. than acouple weeks later my knees started to lock up too. now it really hurts to stand up from sitting down and im often scared my knees wont hold me. i saw a dr and she said it sounded like arthritis and put me on celebrex. it seems to have helped my fingers but not my knees and since than its gone to my wrists and come afternoon my whole body aches like i have the flu (back, shoulders , everywhere) and doesnt go away till the morning. does this sound like arthritis and why has it come on so quickly. i was fine before having bub

    thanx all

I suffer from arthritis in my toes, knees and neck..
The locking up you get and having difficulty in standing up (in regards to your knees) sounds like what I deal with - but not the aching all over.

I get aching shoulders if I sit at the computer too long - but that is due to the muscle strain of leaning forward. I dont get aches anywhere else on my body that are related to my arthritis.

I would be going to get a second opinion to rule out anything else if I was you.

    Hi Suemp,
Are you taking the mini-pill? I suffered with exactly what you have described. My feet hurt, my upper thighs ached, I couldn't get up off the floor when I had bub in my arms - the pain was just too much. By chance I stumbled on a post on another website (I think it was the heinz baby one) that described the same thing. They said arthritis can be linked to higher progesterone in the body and as you know the mini pill is progesterone only. When I thought about it the pain started only weeks after I started taking the pill, I went off the mini pill and in no time at all the pain went away. Not sure if this will help you.

I have had trouble with my joints as well. It started in pregnancy and has stayed, although its slightly better than it was, but its mainly my knuckles and ankles, they feel slightly stiff and sore. The ankles are mainly just in the morning but my knuckles feel like it all the time.

My baby is now four months old so I thought it would have gone by now but nope.

I am going to start taking glucosamine for it to see what happens.

i developed arthritis not long after owen was born and i was 20. i get it in my knees and fingers and some days in my elbows. i noticed it the most when i started at the gym and couldn't handle equpiment that used my knees, it was the most painful grinding feeling.
the best thing is shark fin that i got from my naturopath. its amazing.
