Ok now I am truly heartbroken for that boy. I have lived in the outback and I know full well how the gossip mill works. I can kind of understand the adults in this equation being gossiped about, but that is an innocent child. It's despicable.

He did the wrong thing. I get that. Paint him as a future adult deviant and criminal, counsel others to avoid him, speak about him so that he never has a chance to have a clean slate anywhere, well that's what you'll get - a future adult deviant and criminal.

You're missing the point. Kimberly doesn't want any information from the principal. She just wants to make sure he knows what happened.

Parts of this thread are so thoroughly disappointing

When a child transfers to another school, the new school will call the old school and the previous school will send the record card to the new school. In these records cards are court orders, docs referrals, teacher notes, absences etc. I would be surprised if it wasn't in the file. And if it wasn't, surely the previous school would tell the new school about the incident.

Relevant information about behaviours and management strategies would be discussed. I'm not sure which state you're in, but in NSW each child in care is required to have an Individual Education Plan, so these planning meetings are mandated. Kids in care carry enough stigma throughout their lives already, I would leave to the immediate parties involved and educate my own children about protective behaviours in order to ensure they had firm boundaries.

True. However if you fail to address the issue with sufficient robustness you'll get another schoolyard victim.

And an assistant principal, several teachers and hubbers who work within child services have repeatedly said that the principal would be aware - the fact that KG lives in a small community and it's already being spread around the rumour mill would doubly ensure that the principal is aware. But hey, whatever.

Yet another reason I hated living rurally! Give me anonymity in the city any day! I hate the bush telegraph.

The only thing you need to worry about is teaching your children protective behaviours, and make sure they know that they can tell you anything at any time.
