Same. In fact I have way more material on my mother than my MIL.

Totally with you on this one! MIL & SIL's all think I am trying to keep DH & DS from them, so hate me, but the reality is that I have encouraged DH to have a relationship with them but he can't stand them!

I could add quite a few corkers to a SIL spin off thread!!

My MIL says some truely strange things but this would have to be my favourite.

MIL: why don't you just give up on IVF and adopt

Me: it's very hard to adopt, I think we will keep trying.

MIL: but DH has money and knows lots of people. Maybe one of his dr friends could help.

WTF? Does she realise DH can't just call his mate who is a paediatrician and buy a random baby?

    Same here.
My mam is coming to stay with us for four weeks early next year.
    I'm hoping it goes smoothly.

After coming home 4 days from my 2nd Ceaserian, Mil says ""oh my you are so BIG!!''' .... my response "" no sh!t, I just had a baby, look at yourself''. mind you I was so offended. I was 1.75cm tall and 68 kgs. hardly big. I didn't even wear maternity clothes and put 9 kgs on all up. Mole.

We just gave the baby the food until they got over it." I think she thinks I am just being a precious first time mum.

She brings it up everytime I see her. For example:

" when are you going to reintroduce eggs?"
"surely one piece of garlice bread won't hurt?"
"aww.. poor thing is missing out. Can't she just try a little bit of ice cream/cheese/chocolate?"

And this happens even though she once gave her food that DD had a nasty reaction too! It drives me crazy and makes me so nervous when the in laws babysit!
Oh my! These words couldn't have been taken straight out of my MIL's mouth!!!!

Some of you have the patience of saints to put up with all this BS and the interfering and the put downs! I don't think I'd still speak to my MIL if she came out with some of that. Well done for keeping the peace!

This thread makes me appreciate my own MIL so much more, though I could contribute to a SIL and BIL. And I think my DH could contribute a few things about my own mother - first and foremost that she always kisses him right on the lips!
