Not to me but my daughter. DD1 aged 8 asked MIL why she spends so much time with her cousins and doesn't come and see her and her sisters. (SIL lived 200m away MIL would be there daily and visit my girls every 2-3 weeks) MIL replies that Aunty XX is her daughter so they are her priority. DD1 says but isn't daddy your Son? MIL replied that she will understand when she's a mother WTF?
Can we start a FIL thread haha? I've got a good one. DH had just been deployed for 3 months, my car was insured under the in laws business. I pulled over on the side of the road to tend to DD2 - she was a few months old and I was also pregnant with DD3. I was struck by a car, hit and run and wedged between the doors. Thankfully an old couple saw and grabbed DD1 who was in hysterics. I've rang FIL to organise a tow and insurance but his reply...... 'Can't talk right now the state of origins on, ring back tomorrow' double WTF? I won't even go into what happened after that which was worse.
The rest of the story involved FIL telling the insurance company (4 days later when he decided to take my call) that the car was only slightly damaged, could be driven and booked it in to be repaired an hour away. Meant the car doors, that were bent backwards had to be jockey strapped shut and the panel shop in disbelief after being told it was a 'small job' I actually don't know how the car wasn't a complete write off, $10k in damage. By this time, I hadn't spoken to them any longer so when I went to pick the car up they put a hold on it at the repair shop until I rang and apologised.. I was meant to be leaving to drive 14 hours away to visit DH that day. Thank god for an awesome mummsie who leant me her car. No, I didn't apologise, but of course they gave the car back because they needed us to pay for it.
