Dp just told me that MIL says she doesn't visit me more often because I stop what I'm doing to talk to her??? ummm I thought that's what you do when you have guests? But, I don't know wether to be miffed that she thinks I should be doing more housework rather then having a chat or grateful that's she's not here. I don't understand her at all.

I do this! Not cause I'm rude but cause I feel if someone stops everything they're doing to talk to me then they aren't comfortable with me so I wouldn't want to make them uncomfortable in their own home, so I just don't go if it's a cuppa/pop around visit.

I find this odd. If someone is visiting me I stop what Im doing as they are here to see me I find it rude when some of my friends keep cleaning or doing other things when Im over....
    Interesting spinoff thread.....

It would be an interesting thread but I was always raised that if someone visits you give them your attention. Does she prefer I do do the vacuuming and mopping whilst I ignore her?

On a lighter note, while at adventure world (a big WA water fun park that once your in all rides are free) with dd's, mil,dp and dp's best friend and his nephew, mil questioned me why only one of dp's friend nephew came and not the other. I replied that he won't take both because they argue too much and it was the 10yo turn this time. At which point mil said that the 17yo is too old for adventure world anyway and he would probably be embarrassed going to a place like that anyway. I tried explaining to her that it is the ideal place for a teenager but she wouldn't believe me.

While in emergency the other night for dp, texted MIL to let her know what was happening (basic details only, we didn't even know much).. She calls at 5am before work to demand to know more details. I tell her we don't even know that much, emergency was really busy blah blah.. She goes "tell them his mother wants to know what's wrong with him". Omg lady, a lab can only grow cultures so fast... I'm sure a 36yo telling a nurse his mummy is demanding to know whats wrong is gonna help us get seen quicker. Far out

MIL said to me tonight whilst daughter was running around with no undies while I put my washing out.. MIL rushes upstairs to tell me to put pants on her because a pedophile might see her... Charming

So. After definitely confirming dp has pneumonia, mil comes back with... Lady at work told me they are recalling apples for wisteria. Your symptoms match you should get tested ...
OK um a) its listeria lol, b) dp doesn't eat apples and c) 2 seconds on google showed that it was last year, in USA! She was offended when I pointed all this out though. Of course.
