Visit from MIL has given me a few new ones today!!

Asking of DS, 7 days: "Is he in a routine yet?"

Later when looking at the kids activity room: "Is that playpen area for DS? Haha! He won't need anything like that for months!"

It's a bit of gym matting with an activity mat and a swing in the corner, I explained it was so I could put him down in a safe place other than his bassinet and also about tummy time... Her reply: "oh DH had plenty of tunmy time without a special area, I put him to sleep on his tummy."

Me: well that will be 9am for us, which is right on DS's sleep time, so that will be perfect.
MIL: oh are you going to run on that jet lagged time forever?!?

No, but seeing as it's simply 'the time' where we live, I think we'll just run with it! I don't think the entire state is going to make allowances just for us!
My sister has been having this exact conversation with my MIL as well as her own all week!

    Default SH!T my MIL says

On Christmas Day my MIL came out with this.

MIL: DH must be so disappointed.
    Me: why
MIL: because you haven't given him a baby yet.
Me: (stunned silence and walked away)

Thanks you silly old cow but it's not for lack of trying!!!!

I cannot wait to leave this effing place!! We had a morning full of the rest of the lunatics first though. Booooo.

I've been up and down ALL night with an unsettled baby while DH snored beside me. I booted him out of bed with the baby and sent them to the lounge literally 15 mins ago. MIL gets up 'oh! Where's Missusmac? It must be nice to get to sleep in! Aren't you a great dad'.

I'm laying in bed deciding if I've had just enough sleep to ensure her safety, or if I should hide out here for the duration.

That truly is horrible! I'm just fortunate that my MIL had terrible trouble conceiving her kids 30 years ago, so she completely understands my struggle...

I've been following along with this thread, shaking my head at some of the things that MILs come out with - but not having a story of my own because my DHs darling Mum passed away a long time ago and I never got to meet her.

Then I realised I have a step-MIL who has come out with a couple of clangers!

My DH has two siblings and they both have had only boys, as has my DH. Sitting at a family gathering my step-MIL made the comment "I guess I'm just going to have to wait now for the next generation to have children and give me a little girl to play with". That is in front of DH and I who are actively trying and have had several miscarriages which she knows about, and in front of my SIL who spent eight years trying to conceive and finally had a little boy twelve months ago and I have no idea if she will be trying for a sibling for him as she is a very private person. But step-MIL just wrote us both off with one sweeping statement.

Then, on our wedding day, she called me by my DH's exes name ALL DAY! And she wasn't even drunk! Yes, our names do start with the same letter, but FFS, to call me her name all day was just awful. DH never married his ex and was only with her for a few years, separated for two years when we met, then two years later we married - and she still called me HER name! Not what I want to be reminded of on my wedding day!!!

My mil just says stupid sh!t not hurtful sh!t yet.... First grand child due in May.
I have heaps.. But the latest was when I told her I had torn my stomach muscle above my naval.
And her being a "nurse" 50 years ago (knows everything) said oh.. You've torn the pubis something a rather muscle.
Umm.... No. That would be in my pubic area.
    Bahaha ha.......
