    Default SH!T my MIL says

A safe place to share/vent all those wonderful things only a MIL can (dares to) say

No malice intended, I just need to vent as DP seems to think I 'just dont understand her'

    Example...
MIL: do you want this chocolate fountain?
ME: No thanks, I wont really use it
MIL: Are you sure? Lady at work is just giving it away...(look on her face as if ive just stabbed her in the heart)
    ME: Ok fine...
    When DP picks it up...
MIL: Shes not gonna eat it all in one go and get fat is she?

My Mil is the mother of sons only, no daughters. Here goes :

'A daughter is a daughter for life, a son is a son till he takes a wife' *sob* *sigh*

'I'm only the MIL!' When I told her I was ok to look after my own newborn without her in my house every day

'I hope you are getting married for the right reasons' as a speech at our wedding reception.

Laughing at me for strapping my 2 year old into a carseat. In her day she didn't use them and her kids are ok blah blah. Never mind it's now the law and my children's safety is a priority. She thinks it's hilarious.

There are thousands of these! It's never ending with her ugh

MIL: I'll just check the baby, make sure he's warm'.
Me: He's fine. Warm and sleeping
    MIL: Yeh, i'll just check.
Me: Please don't. He needs his sleep. He is warm.
    MIL: I am a nurse
    Me: (eye roll)
    Baby: Wahhhhhh!
Me: Did you wake him up?
MIL: No, I just tucked him in. He must have woken cause he was cold. Surely you can't be angry? You should be thanking me, he was cold.

Same! She was really disappointed when we told her we were having a boy, she didn't even pretend to be happy

Over the years she's really had some corkers, but the latest most memorable ones are:

During my pregnancy "how much weight have you put on" followed by "what?! You've already gained 10kg! you're only half way through!!!!" :|

2 weeks post birth "have you started your exercises yet? I was already out walking and running the day after all my children's births!!! You don't want to leave it too long!"

    I'm not even overweight! Wth!

I'm so used to it now though it's water off a ducks back.

Oh just remembered another one, after hearing what we named DS "we thought you would go for something more traditional, I don't like it"

    😳

DS does have a traditional name it's just not overly common.

I had this corker the other day. I had given birth the day before and had a manual placental removal done so I was in bed at hospital when she came to visit. I am naturally on the skinnier side.

"Maybe now you have a newborn you might put on weight and get some curves"

    Ummmmm

My MIL said this to my mother when we were in the planning stages of my DS christening.

I can't remember my first sons christening. I don't think I was there. I think I was at home getting the food ready. But I remember being there. But I think I was at home.

WTF lady!?!? That's just one of em.
