    Default First ultrasound

Hi all. Im new to BubHub and I am expecting our first baby in July next year. I am wondering what everyone saw in their first ultrasounds? Im 7 weeks today, dating from LMP as doc said and I am so excited but not really sure what hubby and I will see in the ultrasound. Will there definately be a heartbeat?
Looking forward to your replies xx

When do you plan on having it?

    Congrats on your pregnancy

you should be able to see a heartbeat providing your dates are exact.

When are you having your first ultrasound? It's standard for the first one to be around 12 weeks. For that you can see a vague body shape, moving limbs, heartbeat etc.

If you aren't sure of your last period or it there are other concerns some doctors will do a dating scan around 6+ weeks. Depending on ovulation/fertilization you may see a flicker of a heart beat inside a big blob/sac.

you should hear a heartbeat and see some kind of shape that looks nothing like a baby yet.
12 weeks ultrasound though you'll see the head, legs and arms. It will look like a miniature baby.

    It changes really quickly

I have my dating scan tomorrow also, really hoping for a heart beat! With my first pregnancy my dating scan pretty much showed a blob (but very exciting blob!), the real exciting but was the heartbeat. It feels so much more real! And peace of mind everything is ok this far. Last time I thought I was 7 weeks but was measuring 5wks +4 days (?) so we were very fortunate to have a HB so early.
Don't be surprise if your dates don't quite add up, that seems to happen a lot...
Best of luck tomorrow! I am excited but nervous...
