If you aren't keen on the local then it's best to get obstetrics added. You never know the outcome even if you have a straightforward/low risk pregnancy. I ended up with an emergency csection & my daughter was in special care for 6 nights. It was well over $10k.
Yea it does sounds like a lot. If we decide to go private then will definitely get obstetrics cover!
