I haven't put words in your mouth at all. You talked about people's vile opinions. You said in so many words everyone is foaming over the mouth at this but aren't "outraged" about DV. You said you don't see why you should be called on your opinion over the media and you said these sort of cases don't need social change. Read back through your posts.

Anyway, my intentions weren't to be antagonistic. I just hate when people try to suppress intelligent debate. You have your opinion which is fair enough, others have theirs.

When the news broke, the media and police did not know who the child was and who he belonged to. Much like using the media to ask for information on a kidnapped child I suspect.

Well a child down a drain is unique, but mothers that abuse their children, either passively (like this story) or actively is far from rare, and that's speaking from a professional POV. You would be shocked what parents do to their children. And yes some are mothers.

I'm a bit shocked you say child abuse doesn't need social change yet say that no one cares about DV. The argument is inconsistent and lacks substance and really is a Strawman. Other opinions are just as valid as yours.
Well I'll respond to this by saying this. There are a handful of members here that if any of whom thank this post, then I'll seriously consider what I actually wrote. Otherwise, I'm not offended and I don't derserve that.

You don't deserve what? I've refrained from copying and pasting everything you've said, but you've said all that. Quite clearly. I'm not sure why you are getting so angry at me stating what you've already said.

Gah, if you have the strength to say something at least have the strength to stand behind it.

This is why I've stopped posting in the debate threads, and why frankly debate threads are disappearing on this forum. Because people just can't accept they disagree on a certain topic and move on without acting all persecuted. People are entitled to feel shocked, angry and confused about this poor baby. Just as you are entitled to feel sorry for her. But changing the goal posts with Strawman arguments and backing away from comments you've made citing words being put in your mouth is disingenuous.

@delirium please don't back of debates in the hub we need your voice of reason (if I agree with you ) and your strong argument if I don't. We all learn from debates.

It feels more like a semantic misunderstanding than a debate relating to the OP IMO.

I think as adults we should be capable of having discussions without being on the defense. My favourite debate thread is still the 'shoes in the house' thread...

Some previous poster mentioned the baby's dad, I just read that they haven't been able to identify him yet.
