I used in in my third trimester with no ill effect (I took precautionary movicol to avoid constipation). I was also given panadine forte in pre/early labour in hospital.

I take it for chronic pain you can have up to 8 a day and it won't hurt the baby. If you get constipation drink cloudy pear juice, make sure it's the cloudy one it's amazing stuff.

I took it late in my 3rd trimester after developing sciatica. I took it as sparingly as possible for around 3-4 weeks before DD was born.

My understanding is that the concern is if used in large amounts for a long time that the baby may be born addicted or when used in large amounts in the 3rd trimester bub could be born with breathing difficulties due to the coedine supressing the respiritory system.

If your OB says it's ok at whatever dose prescribed for whatever length of time then it will be fine to use😊
