Have you tried cooking smaller amounts at a time to see if that helps?
Otherwise maybe you've ended up with a dud?

I love my Philips Viva. Almost wish I had a second too!
With using fresh potatoes for chips I find par boiling them and giving then a toss in a bit of oil and having the tablespoon of oil in the bottom as well helps to make them yummy and crunchy.
It actually makes a really awesome soft boiled egg and surprising the egg doesn't explode. I think it was 8-10 mins at 160. So good! Almost just like a poached egg

I just cut it up into chips and put them straight into the bottom. It cooked for 20 and then once the timer called for the fish I added that to the top shelf for 8 then it was all done.

Ok I'm giving this another go. I've cut, soaked and briefly boiled the chips. I'll report back!

Don't forget to give them a good blotting with some paper towel! Hope they turn out!
