I have a 3 yo and 3 week old, and this topic took me right back two years to when my eldest was one. He did exactly the same thing, awake for two hours every night in the early hours for about two months. I so feel for you, and hope it's ended!!! I remember talking about it at playgroup and there were some mums who'd never experienced it and others who had; it seemed to be a developmental thing, as someone else suggested. I tried lots of things. Eventually I just lay there with him and tried to get as much rest as I could, even if I wasn't asleep. The phase passed, as they all do. I hope yours has too!!!

I just thought I would do another update.

With this method toby has been doing SO well. None of us recognise ourselves. His blocks of sleep have stretched from 5-6 hours to, tonight, 8.5 hours. His resettles are quick, and very rarely do I have to go in at all.

I don't know if he would've started doing this on his own or what but I do know we all so much happier for getting a bit more sleep!

It's not sleeping through (yet) but I am confident it will be something that happens eventually.
