Default Explaining how babies are made to 5 year old

Df and I are just about to start ttc #3. We were talking about it tonight and ds1 asked what we were talking about so we said we are going to get another brother or sister for him soon. He then asked us how babies are made. We said they grow in mummies belly but he asked how.
What is the best way to explain this to him?
Df said mum and dad have big cuddles and after a while a baby starts to grow. He didn't believe us. Haha. He is a very curious little kid and likes to know how everything works so we want to explain this to him in the best age appropriate way.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks!!

He has asked about 3 times over the last few months. We have managed to change the subject without him really noticing but I'm pretty sure he will ask again, especially when I do fall pregnant and we tell him, so I want to be prepared with an answer that will satisfy him.

Daddy puts a special little cell in mummy's belly and the cell grows and grows into a baby! Daddy's special cell is made in his testicles etc.

    Lol wishing you luck!!!

Thanks for this, it's kindof what we said, that daddy puts the baby there and he asked how. That's when we said special big cuddles but it wasn't a good enough explanation for him, lol

I told 5yo DS that dad put a seed in mum's tummy.
Then he asked why dad put a seed through my mouth into my tummy and I told him dad's p@nis put the seed in through my f@nny.
That shut him up. I'm guessing more questions will come next week or month! Lol

I think 5 is old enough for the truth, especially if your DS is somewhat 'mechanically minded'. Also, I would talk about the womb rather than the belly. We get so many kids at school thinking they grew in among all the food in mummy's tummy!
