I once picked up some dirty washing off the floor and there was a massive huntsman on the floor under them. I screamed, threw the washing away and then ran...leaving ds sitting on the floor next to it!!

I did the old pick up and sniff with a pair of my knickers.

OK.. Back story first. I have a bit of a reputation for scaring people with fake spiders. I did have several realistic looking plastic ones I used to put in well placed locations.

    Back to the knickers..
Well I picked up one pair I suspected needed washing but were close to the clean washing pile. Anyway I picked them up to smell them and as I did I saw a flash of black and assumed it was my plastic one as it was the same type and size. But, as I sniffed them I felt something cold and hard touch my lip. Well I decided they needed washing so I threw them in the wash and as I did, my plastic spider walked away.

Eewww eewww eewww I accidentally kissed a spider!

I am the same, it's a phobia and all rationale and mothering go out the window if I am confronted by a spider. My DH even blames me for the 2 year old now being scared of spiders.

He could have a point my friend has an irrational fear of cats which she got from her Mum. It's the weirdest thing ever. At least spiders are actually scary!

My son got a massive spider on his head at an open house.

I tried to brush it twice and it didn't move... Started crawling towards his face so I did a massive smack... Right across his head... He screamed and people looked at me horrified...

Oh wow, that's the first I have ever heard of someone scared of Cats, that would be so hard!

I have no doubt in my mind I have probably transposed (even though I try not to) my fear onto our youngest. They have all seen me lost the plot around spiders unfortunately.

At least you meant well and were trying to do your son a favour, I would have run away from him, eeek!

Don't feel bad @LittleMissSunshine it was a SPIDER! ON YOU! Gaaaahhh! I have no doubt I'd have done something similar, rationale goes out the window when snap decisions are made regarding spiders. And thanks for the laugh
